Sod the response, it was the extra 60lb foot of torque and the fact that the car was pulling like a train at 6500 revs that scared the living daylights out of me. I apparently came back after getting the car totally sideways, very white and pale. Dave and Mark at Tower View reckon it is the only time they have seen me scared.
Downside is fuel consumption (engine needs 12 litres a minute at full throttle to maintain pressure using twin 140 psi pumps...) and the fact that after 8 weeks it has wrecked the rear tranmsission UJs, wheel bearings and suspension which has resulted in another rebuild and strengthening.
It was some 2 seconds faster at Lydden and allowed me to pull 4th before Paddock and required opposite lock on the staight down to the Devil's Elbow.
It requires aerodynamic aids to keep the car on the road now... Apart from that it is still perfectly standard . The triple transformed the engine but the engine was designed for it initially and I used a ACT single throttle originally cos the triple was not available. The JE Special needs fully mapped everything and as much air as it can get. The current air intake is two 80mm diameter pipes and I am working on a bigger inlet at the moment.

Very little as I believe it is the same unit. The big one that complements a bigger plenum/throttle etc etc is the Jag V12 unit.

The only benefit would be response but no power gains, in some cases by upgrading airflow meter on a "small" engine mid-range torque may be reduced. Standard unit is capaple of 320 lb ft, The only standard model to really benefit is the 500. the unit used is from the Range Rover 4.6. (black plastic, Sagem) The Jaguar unit looks the same but is wired/ scaled differently .Don't forget that you cant replace these without chipping.

There has been a misunderstanding about these Air-flow meters, the normal upgrade is to Range rover 4.6 unit, this is the black plastic job the one that Mark Adams can fit. The Jaguar unit is different but looks the same, to my knowledge nobody has adapted the Rover wiring /ECU to take the Jaguar type. so you need to check this before you buy anything. The range Rover type are £300 new or about £150 S/H.

For the flapper type the one to go for is the Jag V12 version. No confusion. According to RPI, the 4.6 Gems one needs some wiring modes anyway. The V8 Developments receipt I have says Jag V12 air flow meter as well so tis very confusing.
Best thing is to get one from a reliable source. The car will need rechipping anyway so talk to Mark Adams before hand and he will sort you out. Getting a second hand one can be dodgy as you don't know if it is working correctly.

I have Johns triple plenum on my Ultima (he very nicely offered it to me at cost price, as he needed a "guinea pig"). I'm mighty impressed with it. In fact, I'm mighty impressed with the whole engine. It's a real little beasty.
I've had 4 engines from John over the yaers (3 3.5 lumps, and the 4.8 I have in the Ultima), and they've all been exceptional in both quality and performance.
Two things I would say about John though:
1) He gets very busy, so get your order in in plenty of time.
2) He likes dealing with people who appreciate his work. A bit of enthusiasm (which is easy for me, as I'm a real "shiny bits" freak) goes a long way towards getting something a little bit special at a something standard price
I get over 300 ft lb of torque from 1,500 RPM all the way up to 5,750. Which is nice
