Well yes the motec is good, i personaly think its overpriced.
Are you keeping the standard inlet manifold or going for throttle bodies or a custom plenum.
Stuart
I Know Motec's good & you only get what you pay for Eh!! Keeping Standard Single Throttle Plenum, plus some engine modifications
The thing about the M800 and Clio v6s is that the majority of serious tuning that's been done to the V6s is off the back of using the M800. This means that there is experience of using this particular ECU in this specific context which is a difficult to price "value add".
People with the right knowledge create the correct loom, handle the mapping etc etc already exist. So far I've not heard of people opting for Pectel, Omex etc.
Personally I would be tempted by the Kronos Racing stuff having seen it at work and knowing that 1.2k gets a serious ECU + loom + wide band lamba sensor...

They don't look as pretty though!
I could put a £150 MegasSquirt into a custom made billet case and sell it to ya for £2000 - it must be good if it costs that much eh? :-)
Where
hey whats a megasquirt ? where can I get one, it must be good if you sell em for 2K EH !!
megasquirt is a build it yourself ECU - you need to be handy with a soldering iron and not frightened of SMT components.
If I remember correctly you get a kit for the ECU then there is some simulation equipment you plug into it whilst the serial interface connects to your PC so that you can test the ECU before you risk it on the real thing...

Regardless of what ecu you use, eventually it all boils down to whoever is mapping it.
It may be nice to have backup from others using the Motec with your engine, but in reality unless you are running into problems, then the others dont really matter.
Choice of ecu should boil down to your requirements, and being able to get someome competent to map it.
