replacing only one piston

Let's not forget that this car was bought as a non-runner with the engine already partially stripped. There may be a defunct lifter which the engine builder had no way of finding without replacing all of them.
Thanks for that.Does the sound of the video point to a lifter then, or could this be something more serious, timing; bent con rod; bottom end?

That rattle is far too frequent for any single lifter. More like all of them... which is unlikely they're all faulty or broken if they are indeed hydraulic in the first place ?Does the sound of the video point to a lifter then, or could this be something more serious, timing; bent con rod; bottom end?

I fitted a replacement head to an origional BINI and all but 2 of the lifters were stuck closed, the car sounded like a bag of nails.Thankfully the origional head's lifters were all fine, so 20 minutes later it was running perfectly.
So it's certainly possible that multiple lifters are stuck/broken.
When listerning to the motor last night at 2000 rpm there is a knock which sounds to be coming from number 3. It sounds like piston slap if it were a big end it would of let go by now. I suggest a compression test to see if all 4 are within range. It seams to run on all 4 smoothly so dont think it has a stuck lifter
