Rough / crunchy gear stick during all gear changes. BMW E87.

When shifting into any gear the gear lever's movement feels lumpy or crunchy when Im shifting into gear. Its actually becoming hard to get it into gear, especially first.

Ive had the problem since I bought it over a year ago but its got progressively worse.

Is it okay stationary engine off? Suggests a clutch problem.

If it like it all the time check the fluid level in the 'box.

Bleed the clutch. Clutch is not fully clearing.

wouldnt hurt to change the gear oil , make sure its the right spec

Thanks for the responses. Its only slightly better when the engine is off. Still think its the clutch?

Try the simple things 1st

Suggestion above to bleed the clutch is a goodun, check for leaks while you're at it. While under there check/change the gearbox oil.

It could also be a clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder from the description.

Check also the hydraulic hose to the clutch slave, it may be expanding under pressure/deteriorated
