K Series 1.4 to 1.6 Cylinder Liners
Discussion
Trying to understand what is involved in upgrading a K Series from 1.4 to 1.6.
Specifically, I'm trying to establish if the 1.4 block needs to be modified to accept the 1.6 liners - or are the outside diameters the same?
If the block doesn't need modifying this looks like a simple upgrade - as the crank and concords are the same.
Am I missing something (apart from the ECU)?

A late 1400 is easy to convert, you need pistons and liners, normally the rods and pistons come as a unit, however if you are converting to forged then you can use your 1400 rods suitably bushed or honed to allow fully floating fitment, a set of 1600/1800 liners and replacement big end bearings and all should be well.
Early non convertible blocks (wet blocks) have 'X' pattern markings on the outside of the block assembly, later blocks (damp blocks) are smooth on the surface.
