Clutch failure on focus st mk2, 2006
Discussion
Im running a focus st mk2 with all focus rs upgrades, clutch, driveshafts, turbo etc its running a collins CP340 remap and it started initially by slippng when getting to 3rd onwards and now as completely failed pedal as gone loose to the floor checked fluid levels there fine and theres no sign of any leaks only had the car two weeks and never had a modded car so looking for any advice please.
I seem to recall early mk2s were known for having a clutch that was fine for a stock car, but if performance was increased the clutch wouldn't stand up to it. I think Ford might have made a revised part ? I think a RS clutch is uprated and can be retrofitted, which would make sense to do.
Either way I'd have a look at the RS/Focus owners club forums / passionford etc and see what information you can find.

Well at the point where it started slipping, you should have had it looked at instead of driving it until it has totally f**ked. It will need a new clutch, and possibly flywheel depending on how badly it has been slipped and what else has now happened.
Either way, it needs to come apart by a competent mechanic to see properly whats up.
Thanks guys for your feedback as for the slippng ive only driven it the once at a steady pace as after the initial slippng which was when i was accelerating hard it got me worried but was fine whilst driving steady could get all the gears as the Rs clutch and flywheel i have the receipt yes the date on it is July 2017 so it ain't been in that long as it really.
Had a standard clutch in my ST and first bit of Mountune tuning made it slip, so the common mod that Mountune used to offer was a fit of an RS clutch. I believe the flywheel is the same and only the pressure cover and plate is the only items required. Pedal felt much better than the original , albeit 28k mile old standard clutch.
Yours will need to come apart to investigate the problem. Seems someone may well have given the clutch some hard core action before you bought the car.
