Jaguar AJ V6 3.0ltr (in S-Type 240Bhp Flavour) - Options
Discussion
Hello Folks,
I have been looking at S-type Jaguars with a view to buying a 3.0ltr petrol manual as an engine and gearbox donor for my old Reliant Scimitar (SE5).
I suspect that due to the complexities of the security system I will have to go for stand alone aftermarket management.
In standard tune they push out 240Bhp with little left by way of additional tuning options which I can understand as it's pretty tuned as is. However, for full retro effect in the Scimitar a set of throttle bodies would be great. The question is, would this give any performance gain or would I just loose all the mid-range and end up with a peaky screamer?
Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences?
Regards,

Oh it will fit alright, perhaps a little fetling of the bulkhead but not enough to stop the conversion. The quad-cam Vauxhall V6 from the Omega has become a popular transplant and is of similar arrangement (albeit being a 55deg V as opposed to the usual 60deg) and the Cosworth V6 has also appeared in them in the past.
That was my suspicion.
The stock 240bhp will make a Scimitar entertaining after the 132bhp all iron Essex and the reduced weight will make a huge difference. It's good to hear that the exhaust is restrictive as it gives a bit of extra potential to claw back anything I loose from running the original management.
