Lovely! Why do you have two of them? There's an ongoing discussion about one here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Perhaps you could share some of your acquired wisdom on the Ghibli?
Not really sure about Ghibli wisdom ha ha. I bought the 1994 LHD 2.0 manual car originally when David Askew imported it from Italy in July 1998. I was the first UK owner. I used it as a daily until April 2002 and did around 40k kilometres in it. I PX'ed it at Moda Cars (same guys as Europares at Halstead) for a 1999 QP. I really liked the QP but missed the Ghibli so much. I kept on top of everything service and maintenance wise as there was a small father and son garage opposite my office and they did all the work and were great. However it was going a but rusty in places and I just fancied a change so got the QP. I sold the QP and went for a 4200 but still really missed the Ghibli. I kept my eye out for M84EFK but couldn't find it so in 2014 bought the RHD 2.8 Auto S455YEV. Its a wonderful car in fantastic condition and had a service history value that was double the price of the car and was a no-brainer to buy. Its almost perfect and one of the last few registered in Jan 1999. I have kept it in perfect condition with everything attended to properly. I love the colour Rosso Oriente which is the same as M84EFK. In 2018 I located M84EFK and managed to contact the owner, he said the car wasn't for sale but said when it was I would get the first offer. He had the car since 2004 and had looked after it like a baby. Again a history value far exceeding the value however that was over 14 years of ownership. Everything has been done including engine out, rust repairs, rustproofing, and almost everything has been replaced or refurbished as required and its like a new car in the engine bay and underneath as well. I finally bought it back in April 2014 as the owner, a fantastic elderly gentleman had some health issues. It hadn't really been used for over 5 years, although MOT'd each year so it needed a full recommissioning plus replacement of some perished parts and a full service. Its now used 4 or 5 times a week for local runs as Im working at home. It will never be sold :-).
So this is my take on Ghibli ownership, you need to use them regularly, and I mean weekly, you need a local garage with passion to look after them. Yes I know the main indies know their onions and I have used plenty but most of the issues are small mechanical or electrical gremlins or loose trim clips or bulbs or gas struts that you need to just keep on top of. These issues make them uneconomical in my book to be done at a high cost as most are common sense and just need someone with passion and interest to complete. I have a young guy locally that is that man and he's just great. He looks after my V12, V8 and the 2 V6's plus my kids cars as well. He's a regular guy with passion. I believe thats the wisdom for Ghibli ownership, buy wisely, dont just keep in the garage but use it, Indies for big things, local guy for day to day things and there are plenty of them !!. But you dont see them often and I think they just look great.

Well Maserati no. 5 has now been bought (only 1 at a time). After 3 GranTurismo's (4.2, MC GranCabrio, Sport) and most recently a Levante (petrol), today I switched my Levante for... another Levante but this time the Trofeo.
Their not to everyone's liking or those harking back to halcyon days of desperate unreliability and lurching from one financial crisis to another, but Maserati still retain a personality and as my daily drive, then this does it for me. There aren't many Trofeo's around, but this is well equipped, in the colour I like (same as my previous one - different interior) and a great car which does everything I need it to.

That's a really encouraging post to read, thanks for sharing all that Ian. I'd be interested to hear some more on your ownership of the QPIV, I take it being a '99 car that it was an Evoluzione...? I'm gradually edging closer to Maser ownership and luckily the guy who runs our trusted local garage actively enjoys working on older cars, a couple of his other regulars have Maseratis and one of them also has a Ferrari 355. Everyone I speak to about Maser ownership says ''just use them, as often as you can''.So this is my take on Ghibli ownership, you need to use them regularly, and I mean weekly, you need a local garage with passion to look after them.
