Finally got round to doing a continuity test on the old wiring harness.

Lo and behold, only three out of four are testing OK.
Stripped the covering off the loom and there's the break.

The wires are crappy thin gauge and very brittle.
It looks like a failure waiting to happen.

Replacement part no. is 92213408.
Cost only £26 +VAT
Fitting a bit fiddly but certainly not difficult.

Same fault on my VXR8 yesterday. Seem to be dropping like flys!
Can i ask where the ABS sensor loome connector is. I can see the sensor connectors at each wheel but cant seem to find the other end of this loome? Thanks in advance.

Connector is above the diff!
Ideally get the car on a ramp or over a pit to do this.

Been advised it's a rear wheel (R/H) sensor on mine.

Just happened to me today, first the abs warning then later on the check engine light came on, then the abs cleared itself but the check engine light is still on.

just ordered a wifi odb2 unit off eBay for £23.00 and you can get a code reader app for the iphone, for free woohoo

Had mine repaired last week, fault code was the rear right hand sensor. Ordered new sensor (£40ish) from WP and also got the wiring loom (£20ish) which feeds both wheels at the same time.

Got local VXR specialist garage to fit and all sorted now.

Any Vauxhall dealer can get it for you.
Just quote the part no. from earlier in the thread.

Took the loom off today, you really need a ramp as its a real pain in the ass to get off as it goes over the diff and theres clips up there you can't get to.
turned out to be broken wire at the main plug, resoldered all good.

Hi.

I’ve just registered on here and I am 1 week into the ownership of a vxr8.

I apologise if this has been covered already, if not perhaps someone could shed light on a problem that I have with the car?

Firstly the car is an 08 plate 6.0 manual.

I had the engine management light come on within the first 2 days, this turned out to be 02 sensors thinking it’s running lean ( after market exhaust)

These were cleared after my local garage cleared the fault codes. All sorted in that respect.
My next problem is that I’m getting the “stability control off” message coming up?
I’ve found that the stability control button doesn’t seem to do anything, nothing coming up to show it’s on/off?
Maybe this is a fault??
Sometimes I get a message flash up saying stability control on? Even when no button pressed?
I’ve been out today with loads of short stop/start trips and the engine management light has come on again. It’s fluctuating between the main engine management symbol and stability control off??

Am I right in thinking the stability control is the same as traction control?

Am I also right in thinking this is likely to be the same issue as described previously with the fault being down to the loom over diff?

I’ve spoken to my mechanic who states when he cleared the engine management light last week there was no other codes coming up.

The car drives fine, no loss of power etc

Thanks in advance, I love the car and hope it’s a cheap fix👍

an abs sensor on the blink will turn off the traction control , traction control is part of stability control , worth getting codes read when they come up , you can buy a bluetooth obd reader and down load an app on your phone for about 5 £

Thanks for that quick reply.

Tbh I’m pretty useless with tech stuff, are there any links to these fault code readers that you could recommend. There’s loads on eBay I’ve seen previously but without the right knowledge I’d be concerned that I’d be buying the wrong thing or just some cheap junk that won’t do the job.
I take it they all come with an idiot guide so even the thickest person could operate it

Download either the Torque Pro app, or the Carly app.
Both apps give access to fault codes both current and pending, and can show live data too.
This will tell you everything you need to know, assuming you can interpret the data correctly.

Ok, thanks very much I’ll try that. I meant to ask, would an abs sensor fault trigger the engine management light? Or could that be something else?

Thanks again

An abs fault will , stop traction control working , i had an issue where a ht lead was failing and that set every thing off , no tc a loss of power etc , code reader is the way forward so you know what the issue is
