tyre recommendations

On My VXR8 I found the vredesteins to be much much worse in the wet & cold than my previous Falken 453's, if you look in the specs the vredesteins (C) do have a worse wet rating than the 453's (B). again on my VXR8 not Monaro. But they were still better than the original Bridgestones (Rubber gone Hard).

Im going to be needing some new tyres soon.
My Monaro VXR is standard, most seem to recommend the MPSS which im happy to go with, whats the cheapest/easiest way of getting them, buying online then chucking them in the boot and driving to the local tyre fitter or just driving into the local Kwik-fit and saying I want some new MPSS tyres.
And how much are MPSS tyres....... you may as well tell me while im sitting down.

Can I have a sanity check please. What is the tyre size/s for a Monaro VXR LS2. Reason being they questioned whether they are the same size all round, which made me uncertain.
For Interest they quoted Continentals @£190 Ea and Michelins @£195 Ea but a £40 Discount for all 4 (£185Ea)
