If you wonted to spend serious money 1000bhp is achievable with a LS1. You would have to go for a fully worked engine with a steel block, the tuning is relatively complex but there are companies around who could do it. The LS6 compared to the LS1 regarding smoothness is all to do with the state of tune. Factory LS1's with standard GM tunes wont be as smooth as LS1's with a good tune. GM has upped their game again just like they did with the introduction of the LS1. They have to have a significant/ noticeable difference B4 people will buy them.

Shaun, from what you're saying it looks like you ought to check out Dan the Mans car. He's got lsv stage 2 and plenty of room for more power
But of course if it's 4 doors you really need then maybe not....

Tiler - can't believe you have missed my posts, anyway babys on the way, can't disable the airbags, wife has bad back from previous accidents and can't load baby into the back seats so I have to make the heart breaking decision to sell. Can't run all my vehicles on one income either thought about a cheap fiesta or something (got a bike & van too) but may swap for an FQ330 for a while, either way I'm keeping my options open but selling it is a possibility.

No, don't do it... I've just come from a 370bhp Evo 7 and can't ever see myself going back down the Evo route again.

Dan the Man, don't know how many miles you do, but everyone I know who has or does run an Evo, have found the running costs v.high.
My HSV's have been the cheapest cars I have owned in the last 15 years for running costs, even taking into account fuel & insurance. They are great family cars, the Recaro kid seat fits perfectly in the back & the boot is massive.
Only problem is, my 7yr old girl is adament that when she is 17 she is going to learn to drive in it!!
You should be able to find a 4dr HSV for less than you'll get for your Monaro.

Hi Shaun, Due to the ESVA regs. its not practical to import a new HSV or Holden.
The 4dr cars are all based on the Commodore. The UK stamped cars were all based on VT or VX series Commodores. These do come up for sale, Linden SV has some for sale at present in various states of tune/modification.
Not sure about importing used cars, but guess that this is also a none starter, as someone would have started selling them by now.

I last had an Evolution with 350 bhp.
Too much upkeep and always scared of frying something expensive.
Incredible cars, as far as traction in any conditions and power output-per litre are concerned, but am pleased I have a long-legged cruiser now, instead.

In fairness, the EVO260 represents awesome value for money, at the £19,995 you can get them for at present.

sorry to revive and old post !

some of you might of read in SM about a sydney racer who has got a 400c1 LS1 from the US, dynoed at 1560hp with a single turbo at 21psi, but he also drags it running with 12 psi which gives 1000hp and got easy 8 second quarters before he hit the wall, engine cost 60k (us dollars) seems a lot cheaper and more fun than the evo !
