Thanks Paul, it certainly brings a new twist to the HSV(UK) tale.

Great news this, will be interesting to see if they can offer anything for the older Holden powered cars that reside here. Will be great to see a few more four doors too!!

Well what do you know, just got off the phone to Sonny at Marrano's in Sydney only to find out Mr Wortec has also been shopping for cold air intakes
My baggage is going to be well filled with goodies for my pending upgrade. The Orssom intake looks very good.

The Orssom has been getting good reviews on ls1gto as well with a company now starting maufacturing over there. I forget but it adds approx 15 rwhp/kw?

Looks interesting wonder what a set of LS6 heads, decent cam and one of those would do..to a 5.7

Forget LS6 heads and go with some Dart LS1 Pro heads $1200 the pair, just as cheap if not cheaper than LS6 and should flow much better. They also have comp 918 springs included so are ready to bolt on... I think Im heading down that path.. Got the cam already..

Ringram, those heads look good. Check out this link, they made 50rwhp on a small(ish) cam. The guy whose selling them has said he would be willing to ship to the UK...

ringram - what cam have you gone for mild/mod or wild?

From teh Oz and US guys teh smart choice seems to be one sthat give good average increased power/torque through out the rev range which tend to be cams of a milder variety. But I have quickly learnt this is a real black art and you have to be careful!

Yes, Ive gone with a Crane HR14400067 grind from SDPC, they list is as their 220/224 114 0.551 cam. Adv duration is 282/286 with IVC of 75 ground 4 deg advanced (so ivc of 71). As you say should be a good average gain and beat the bigger cams up to around 5000rpm, which is what you want on the street. It was either that or one of the comp cams 216/220 grinds. I went a step up as Ive had a 218/228 cam before and it was ok, but getting borderline for daily use. Personally I wouldnt go any larger, we also need to keep in mind MOT emissions, so are somewhat limited in the size of cam.

Dan_S yeah I saw that article, a guy from Dart took exception to their slagging off of the stock components as they use comp 918 springs and good valves stock. The corvette forum post has that info in it. Im not sure the extra $500 is worth the coating and mild port work. But I was tempted. I think I will go with a set of these, just deciding on the 205 or 225cc port versions. Should take compression up to 10.75:1 with a Dynamic CR of around 8.1:1 I believe stock is only 6.8 or so. And will think about getting in on the Group buy they are organising. I would expect somewhere around the 400rwhp mark with similar mods and maybe the oz otrcai type setup. Though we will have to see, Im not planning on expensive intake manifolds and throttle bodies, LS6 and stock tb should do for now.

Of to NZ this weekend, so wont make the ACE meet... again.. Hopefully next one will be with the new cam etc in. My mate in NZ is loaning me his VX SS Commodore M6 to use for the month. Nice.

Hey if you guys are keen on purchasing a few sets of heads together Id be keen, perhaps we can approach them all at once. Another pistonheads guy runs www.moving-parts.com/ might be a good way to bring a few over.
