Right I'm confused (already).

1) Is this table of new taxes against what each new car produces or is it still down to the readings they take 'up ya pipe' at MOT's?

2) Would it make any difference if you changed your engine of your new car to one that produced really environmentally friendly results?

3) Wasn't the American smog pump originally designed for no other purpose other than to cheat the readings?

These are for the manufacturers figures - not the MOT test results.

Fitting a new engine won't change that.

we should all get RX7 TT's

17 mpg and 1300 cc engine

:-)

Isn't it considered a 2.6l for VED purposes or did I just imagine that (not uncommon!)

1.3 for tax 2.6 for insurance

Ouch in that case

The good news (if it is good) is when it becomes fashionable to drive around in these cars just to stick it up the nose of the governments/lentilists, we will be making a statement

Well UK PLC is tempted to offshore HQ to take advantage of ultra low tax rates, like 12.5% a few miles away in dublin etc. Guess who pays everyones wages, PAYE, taxes and corporate tax. Yep UK PLC, annoy them and before you know it, you have zero money for anything. So be nice to them and hammer the workers. Little businesses arnt going anywhere, they either cant, or the move costs too much. Keep the big banks around to pay all the wages and taxes.

The problem with the whole thing is that government costs 42% of everything. Government is the problem. Privatise the schools, the healthservice, the local councils. Maybe not a few things like the Police, Foreign policy etc. Get goverment costs down to 10% max and then we will have sorted everything out.

Too many lazy people in public employment, which is just another type of sickness benefit, only it pays more. Rant rant..

Sadly I believe that they will put 10p on fuel as well. We need to be more like the French eek and actually do something physical rather than signing petitions which appear to have no effect. There must be a way of displaying positive action which is legal and effective, but I'm buggered if I can think of anything
