Really? wow - quite impressed with the car's attitude.

I wasn't sure - quite happy though as that makes it the same as mine

Not as positive as their previous holden ones. Plus the diff oil didnt help. Still on the whole fairly positive smile

Should be interesting to see if it encourages some new faces about the place.

Overfilled?
This has been an issue for ages with the T56 box.. punters complain coz it's a noisy box so GMH always recommended a slight overfill - give it some beans or change down to high revs & a spurt from the breather is on the cards. Can be a bit scary when this happens cos it usually spurts straight onto the zorst and you end up looking like a member of the red arrows with smoke billowing out from behind! The Coupe did it back in Oz whilst on the freeway - pretty speccy once you get over the initial fear that you have blown it up! Paul said same happened to him last week on the VXR8.

Erm.. my point is... even if Toyota had a car designed and built entirely in the UK it would still be Japanese because its a Toyota, because Toyota is Japanese.

Holden is General Motors, which is American.

Not arguing that the Holden is designed and built down under, but like I said, its not Home Grown.

If GM thought they could sell as many cars without various different names around the world, they would......
+++Not arguing that the Holden is designed and built down under, but like I said, its not Home Grown -

Sorry to disagree - check out this website http://holden.itgo.com/holden_history.html. The current machines have been developed in Aus, with engines being outsourced via the GM network. As you know. GM Australia exports to the four corners of the globe (you can even see old pre GM Holdens in Greece (EH models).
Really not too sure what your point is, but please, credit where it is due. GM are bleeding money left right and centre, so for GM Australia (Holden) to be able to develop a new car from scratch in their homeland (which they have done) and export to the Middle East (under Chev Luma), USA, UK, NZ etc, speaks loads I think. Ok you might argue that GM gave them the resources (money), but the expertise has been there for sometime, hence the release of funds from GM.
When was the last time, for mass production, was a car last designed and developed in the UK...a country of 60 million people (compared to Australia's 20 million), and sold globally (sucessfully)?

Please forgive me if I have mis-read your comments - only want to post postive comments

cant believe JC missed to point out that it was 0.1 slower than a 911 turbo in the wet! i'd say that that in itself was bloody outstanding! especially as the 911 is 4x4 and all that rear engine traction from a standstill!

not a bad test really. I think JC likes the car alot but would obviously prefer an M5. He does moan about all the complexity of an M5/M6 but he would probably have one if it was him....

They made a little dig at fuel consumption which showed 7.6 on the gauge. Erm, yes on track but no where near the reality on the road. I bet most V8/V10/V12 engines on there are that figure, if not less.

Hmm, I think its the 20" wheels and lowered springs for mine next....

I thought the Holden Commodore was Holdens first car designed from scratch.

The original Commodore back in 1978 was the first Holden NOT designed by them from scratch, well maybe the very first Holden in 1948 wasnt designed by them, it was actually a still born post war Chevrolet Cadet.
The first real Holden was the FE model in 1956, as was every other model up to the last of the WB's in 1984.
The latest VE is again a Holden design, but all previous Commodores have been based on Opels, but with local styling and drive trains.
