Just thinking about it, I would spend a lot of money on an RS200 which never got to make its name...
Apart from its name of "if you want to go really fast in a chopped short Escort and then die when you come off the track thru too much power and not enough technology to keep it going the right way" reputation and the fact it did sell over 200 to the "general public" in order to compete in the the championship, doesn't make it a "1 or 2 off" concept. I thought the idea was that cars like the rs200 were sold as standard road cars?Escort platform? Shared no components or anything with the escort, same as the RS Cosworth wasnt an escort but a modified sierra floor pan

200 were sold? And too fast for its technology? You sure about that? 200 made, 200 sold = no.

148 sold 52 used for testing/racing
As for the floor pan, Whoopee! a chopped up/souped up sierra instead of a chopped up/souped up escort. not exactly exotica is it?
In fact it was actually based on a non production car (yes a concept car - the RS1700T)
And yes, too fast/too powerful, whisch is why the series was pulled. am i not right?
My point was, as with others comments, why pay a silly amount of money for something outdated/overpriced (unless you are a serious collector with a large bank account) when you can have the modern equivalent cheaper?
While we're at it what about the MG 6R4? -
"Henri Toivinen was involved in a fatal collision, when his car went over a cliff in the Corsican rally. The FISA immediately ruled that Group B rally cars were simply too fast, and therefore dangerous to drive, and as a result, banned them from competition effective from the end of that season. The international career of these Group B cars was now over – and the book on the promising 6R4 was closed prematurely."

Is it a fact that the asking price actually IS £250k or is it pure conjecture. No point in getting all het up over nowt.
not getting het up over nowt, trying to save hsvgtcoupe from thinking the Monaro was worth 250k. Edited by V2RAC on Wednesday 13th February 11:05
Cash aside, I think it looks stunning.

Exactly the point I was going to make. Has anyone actually ascertained that they want 250k for it? They might be asking 50k. Or 500k. In either of which cases the majority of posts on this thread are pointless!

Only those posts that mention a specific value are pointless. The fact still remains (and some can't seem to grasp it) that some cars will sell for FAR more than they are really "worth", simply because some people value their rarity. As I previously said, an old GTHO Falcon (a horrible car by todays standards) will fetch 3/4 million. A standard GT of the same model maybe $250K, even replicas are being advertised up to $100K.Cash aside, I think it looks stunning.
i think the lesson to be learned here is that whilst we all love our Monaro`s it wouldn`t have mattered wether it was an HSV or a Holden
We just have no real emotonal link to either marque as we didn`t all grow up with them.
Like we have with Cosworth for instance.
So we just dont get it i`m afraid, and because we don`t we can`t see why it would be worth so much.
