It is Vauxhall supplied - hence the build number - but it is completely badged as an HSV from the factory and is actually registered on the V5 as an HSV. I will leave you to pick the bones out of that. Thats why I was a bit vague in my first post :-)

OK, so I'm going to go with "VXR8 Maloo" as that's how the 2013 Vauxhall VXR brochure names it. I'd like to stick R8 on there too, but the brochure doesn't list the Maloo R8 model with the rest of the E3 HSV's that Vauxhall sold back then. Does your build plate state this is the R8 variant of the Maloo under the bonnet? If it does then I'll change this.

In the 2015 VXR brochure, the VXR8 Maloo is listed as being the R8 variant, but that's the Gen-F version of the car.

Hello. Thanks for the info. Can I confirm that 342 is the last 3 digits of the VIN/body number? I don't think your car will have a build number.

Also, can you let me know the build date as stamped on the build plate under the bonnet. (This is not the same as the date of first registration)

I can see the pros and cons but I would like to try and keep it oem as it was ordered and resist the temptation. It drives super smooth and wouldn't want to potentially upset the balance or feel.
