So, some figures from a very recent dual carriage way ride...
All in 6th gear:
32 mpg at 50 mph
30 mpg at 60 mph
24 mpg at 70 mph
Sounds about right...?
mine does about 30+ at 70mph ?All in 6th gear:
32 mpg at 50 mph
30 mpg at 60 mph
24 mpg at 70 mph
Sounds about right...?
and more at 80mph

Eh? Your saying the consumption becomes less at 80 mph as opposed to 70? Surely not.

Stranger things have happened. Obviously, at speed, the biggest killer for fuel consumption, is the air resistance your car feels. However, if your engine is more efficient in the rev range for 80mph, then you may well see an increase in fuel efficiency. It can also be that the way the air flows over the shape of your car is less turbulent at 80. Aerodynamics is tricky, and could well be multiple vortexes at 70, that are unable to form at 80+ mph.
