Ok so my diff started making a whine last week took into garage for a oil change still the same.

Due to lack of time and strong £ I ordered a new diff from Oz shipped for just shy of 1k bargain..

Question what diff oil would you recommend my mechanic suggests Castrol 75w90 apl gl-4 but monkfish sell acdelco 75-85apl gl-5? all over my head. Also do you need the friction modifier like I used to have in my monaro?

Finally I will have a complete diff for sale for spare or repair if anyone is interested?

Thanks guys

Use the product that MF suggest. The diff in these require an oil with an additive that won't be found in many other oils except the OEM and AC Delco one.

I do a bit of messing around with diffs, but I've never stripped a VXR8 one, so I would like to see how they work etc. Let me know?

VXR8 has carbon clutch stacks, so needs either the stuff Monkfish sell, or the Castrol Carbon Mod Plus. Can get it from Land Rover as Disco 3 &4 use the same. See here
