Picked the wife up from the pub this evening (long story), came out after 20 minutes to find a gaggle of pub regulars clustered around my Monaro cooing and generally drooling. And it's filthy at the moment too!

Dropped a friend off on the way home and went to get petrol (a frequent event these days). Bloke on next pump along - "oi mate, is that a Monaro?" followed by long conversation about how fast does it go, how much was it, doesn't it look fabulous (even though it's filthy at the moment), etc etc.

When I bought the car back in May none of my friends had heard of it, the local main dealers thought it was a van, and for the last 7 months nobody has taken a blind bit of notice of it parked outside the house or in the street or anywhere really. Now in one evening I've had 2 occasions of people gawping at it like it's a naked supermodel!

Could this be at least partially attributed to the Top Gear effect? It was mentioned yet again on the programme on Sunday (I make that at least 3 times this series) and won their award for Surprise Of The Year (I quote the BBC website: "The winner was the Monaro, for being utterly great, which was a huge surprise"). Hah, no surprise to people on this forum!
