I put my Monaro in to my local garage to have a water leak fixed. I'd been using them for years and trusted them. After I got the car back I got this of the roadhawk.

I really hope they enjoyed they joy ride, 125mph is pushing it especially on this road!

Needless to say they've lost a customer!

How much do you trust your garage?

Oh yes, I confronted them. At first they denied it but when I mentioned the 'black box' they started appologising. What else could they do?

As for the roadhawk it's great. Here's the url. It sits behind the rear view mirror I can't see it from the drivers seat.

http://www.roadhawk.co.uk/

What annoys the hell out of me is the fact that they must have been doing this for the last 3 years. The video is much longer of course, that's about a third of it. Even when they were bringing it back to my house (They said I didn't need to get a taxi, they'd be nice and bring it back to me! how stupid do I feel?) they were doing over 100.

It's not as if it's an unknown car in th area, everyone knows it's my car. So anyone being 'buzzed' by those idiots woiuld think it was me. If they get speed trapped, I'd have some explaining to do with the police.

I'm just shocked at the betrayal of trust and pissed that I've been taken for a fool for the past 3 years.

Anyway I guess you live and learn. Even though it's 150 miles to Monkfish from here, noone else is going to touch her but them.

Why not pass it to the police? well it'd probably cost them their jobs, knock on effect, loose their house. Not really fair on their kids, just because Dad is being a dick in a clients car. Luckily noone got hurt otherwise I'd have no problem dropping them in it.

OK here's pictures of it fitted.

From the drivers seat it's invisible.

From the passenger seat, it's the thing that looks like a black banana behind the mirror.

The black cylinder thing above the RH-1 is the aerial for Smartdrive nothing to do with the RH-1.

Hi Glyn, I have it mounted all the time. It's hardly noticable from outside the car and it's not the easiest of things to remove. I used the 'stuck on' attachment it's a lot smaller than the suction cup mount. To get the camera off, you need to move it in a particular way or it just sits there like a rock. The cigaratte power cable is 5 meters long! so I have the cable routed to cigaratte lighter in the center console behind the handbreak. All the cabling is hidden. Really easy to do when you have that much cable smile

I used a product call3ed CamStudio...

http://all-streaming-media.com/record-video-from-s...

The format the RH-1 produces, I tihnkis not just video. I'm assuming all the GPS and G-Force is in there as well so I'm guessing it's a propritory format. If you do a file save, you can export the video content as an AVI, but then you loose the GPS etc data.

Hi CrisisJez,

I think that's somewhat unfair. Don't make me out to be the bad guy here!

I've already explained why I haven't gone to the police. You're suggesting that if those idiots write off another driver next week that I'd be partially responsible because I know they're driving like idiots and didn't report them.

Well, if you're going to take that stance, look at it this way. So would you!

You're maybe right. The overwhelming concensus from people I tell is that I report them.
I guess I'm just too nice a guy or maybe I think I've had enough crap from them to be bothered having to make police statements and court appearances etc!

Just been visited by the Police looking for the original roadhawk files.
No need for me to go and see them now!

lol, sorry I've been ill. Just got up for the first time this week. The thread has gotten more interesting since I last checked!

No new updates I'm afraid, Police came and took the videos and I haven't heard anything more. I'd be supprised if I did to be honest.

As for electric cars... I fancy a test drive in a Tesla!

Actually Roadhawk have very kindly refunded me the cost of the unit. Without being asked as well which think was very kind of them.

The juddery video is due to the software I used to convert the basic video for Youtube. If you look at the high quality video that roadhawk added to my youtube video you can see what it's really like.

They asked for a copy of the ub1 files shortly after I put the you tube video up. I said ok.
Just noticed that YouTube have pulled the video. No explanation to me.
Mind you it was all getting a bit out of hand!

Te police haven't been back to me at all. Not supprised though. I haven't heard anything from anyone since YouTube pulled the video.

To be honest I'm quite happy that it's all quietened down. I spent most evenings expecting a brick through the front window. All too stressful for me!
