Hi Andy,http://www.youtube.com/user/teamholdenracing#p/u/7...
Looks good, you will not remember but I looked at your car once when I was at Silverstone with Topcats and it was one of the reasons I went LS. We looked at some of the pics before we did my conversion.
One thing I do not understand is why you have put your air filter where it is or the type that you have used. Happy for you email me offline, we have made a seperate box for mine with a pick up in the front slats which creates a ram effect which has been amazing in comparrison to what we had before which was simular to what your is now.

I have exhausts which wrap round in front of the engine, plus I have 2 big engine oil coolers, 1 big diff oil cooler and a smaller gearbox oil cooler all requiring direct airflow at the front of the car. The exhaust and radiator position make it impossible to take a cold air feed from directly infront of the engine, so I have to kink off to the side. I'm then very constrained by space due to the various coolers. An air box with a ram effect intake and a panel filter within would be nice, but I'm struggling to find any space for it.
So the simple answer is.... its like that due to packaging constraints. I did discuss it with K&N and they felt the positioning was as good as it could be. The filter is larger than it needs to be, but that was simply because it was the one that was available without a special order.
All that said I'd be interested to see how your set up works. Will you be at Oulton on 3 Aug?
Cheers
Andy
Hi Andy,
Yes aiming to be at Oulton, I have two oil rads in the front spiltters as well which also use some space in the front wheel arches coated in rubber to stop annoying sounds from stones etc - sounds weird but you will understand when you see it.
All I need now is some brakes and I will be there.
Paul........

Were you able to use those headers, did they clear the chassis? I happen to have some of those in stock.TVRMARKUB said:

Not sure how many people realise what materials were used in these chassis, but that's another subject
Grant
To bring this subject back up....Is it fair to say that:
Some people in the older cars like the LS3, but the dry sumped LS7 is preferred in the T-series cars?
There are currently two main competitors who install these bad boys - shpub and Topcats?
If thes statements are wrong, then please accept my apologies, and correct me!

I have been thinking about going down the LS route,But TBH I have really been enjoying my Speed Six over the summer and it's performance ,so might just upgrade this when the time comes.
Both engines are great choices with the LS7 delivering more BHP and dry sumped like a Speed Six. The LS3 offers 400+BHP which will satisfy most TVR drivers if they decide to go down this route.
I think the decission has more to do with the price of the engine and install, as both engines will fit into most TVRs. I think the cost of purchase and install of an LS7 is about double the price of an LS3 or there abouts so depends how much cash you want to throw at it, If money was no object then I guess the LS7 but I'm sure I would also be more than happy with an LS3..
Shpub and Topcats are the people I would be talking to if I went for an LS as they have converted a few T cars and Cerbs as far as I know, they could advise as to what engine would suit but as I said both engines would be fine in most TVRs although I'm guessing the LS7 might be a handfull but great fun...and thats important if you have a TVR..

I think we have reached a point where both choices are credible and will deliver 400BHP in a reliable form, as such we are at the wonderful position for the engine to be a personal choice. Both engines are great choices with the LS7 delivering more BHP and dry sumped like a Speed Six. It is quite evident that some people like the brash and lazy torque of a V8, while others prefer the delivery of a S6. Horses for course and no right or wrong.
Purists have a valid arguement that original cars will retain a higher value in years to come but that is a different matter. In the short to medium term it is too close to call as to which type of car would command the higher value. I would er towards the LS in the current climate and sentiment, but not by much.
For me, as much as I like a v8, the straight 6 is the English engine and suited best to our narrow and short twisty roads and the driving style is far more involving and thrilling. I also do not see the need for more and more power when more skill makes the real difference. Regardless of the power you have under you a modern, fast saloon or hatch will be faster down the country lane for a multitude of reasons, mostly based on a typical performance road car is so much easier to drive and more forgiving. Nowadays it isn't about outright speed and power but the thrill of the drive and what set up suits you and gives the most pleasure. And that is too subjective for any of us to argue over, like trying to explain that nailing fat birds left over at the end of the night isn't good. Some people will think and believe differently and you won't be able to change their minds.
I was lucky enough to have a ride around a track in Paul Blacks LS7 Sagaris at the weekend.
All I can say is.... Stunning.
The LS7 is worlds apart from the 4.0 speed 6 engine. Its Smoother, more refined, has immense power delivery all the way through the rev range and a proper V8 sound track to boot. As I said, Stunning.
If I wasn't in the process of buying a new house, the ride in Pauls sag would have very easily resulted in me paying a visit to Topcats for them to do the same to my Sagaris - it really is that good. You have been warned

(etc)
Very balanced and fair post. Of course some will argue that the S6 is still unreliable and they're unlikely to be convinced. (etc)
But I think you're right to say that the S6 is pretty much sorted now so we are indeed in the lovely position of being able to choose.
There's also the added advantage that, as others pave the way, the LSx swap will become a known quantity and should S6 engine spares become unavailable for any reason in the future then there will be a good alternative in the LSx on the grounds that there are so many of them out in the field then they're likely to be available for a very long time.

Have heard there is a guy out there putting speed 6 engines in Corvette,s and F,Bodys any info would appreciated
Grant
ye its getting hard to find good LS engines they all seem to be ending up in TVR,sGrant
the logical thing to do is put speed six engines in our corvettes and see how they like it
just means we,re 100 hp down and have sh/t reliability
