Ah ok, of course i meant not to wire the lower ones as brake lights but the upper ones as combined tail/brake lights. My english is "stark ausbaufähig" as we say in german biggrin

Paul, does your "cut off" in the original relay work with both LED and normal lamps together ?
Yes, will work fine. It requires a small amount of load for it to work properly so it's probably happier with a normal lamp somewhere in the circuit.
Tested fine with front/rear led indicators and the side repeaters left as lamps.

Job done, just finished the front. Quite easy, its a bit of a faff as you need to take the wheels off for easy access.

I decided not to change the indicator lights after doing the tail/brake light conversion today. I like it just the way it is now.
Indicators would have been too much as the white LEDs looks a kind of "cheap" to me.

Both, the new upper tail LED and the lower tail lights are soldered, so they are glowing both (looks nice to me as i inserted LED lamps in the lower tail lights). Even brighter as Shep said, but ok.

If someone is after a set of 2 indicator LED + resisotors, drop me a mail smile .

Fitted the LED relay today and it works just fine. Much easier option than gaffing with resistors and having to deal with the heat output.

I've got some round, smoked side repeaters to fit tomorrow.

ETA this was the relay I bought; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261111166687?ssPageName=...

Thank you smile

Seems slightly easier than wiring up the resistors...

Shep & Chris,

What are you doing with the old fittings? Would you be willing to sell the reverse and fog units?

Cheers.

ETA - The request is made to all doing this conversion not just Shep & Chris. Having re-read the thread I noted that more are doing this.

I will be keeping mine - anything coming off the Tam that is original, I want to hold on to, lights, steering wheel, exhaust etc. - just in case..

Best thing to do, so if you sell the next owner or a dealer can return to standard. Jason at Str8Six advised the same for me when I changed the airbox to the ACT one.

I hear what you're saying but they are just standard Hella caravan lights!

Yes, they are very cheap - even Racing Green has the standard reverse lamp for just a few ££'s, and we all know the mark ups they load on for TVR parts...

I am keeping my old stuff because I intend to keep the car a very long time - and who knows, in 10/20 year's time, those standard cheap lights may not be as abundant as they are right now.
