Andrew,

is your car being delivered to Kings tomorrow - I saw you mentioned they were your local dealer in another post - if so I might pop down for a look!

They're allocating 1 mechanic a whole day for the PDI! Does anyone know what will get done? Other than fitting a number plate and tax disc!
As you can probably tell my dealer's not my favourite person at the moment!
Cheers........ Andrew

Andrew,

As I've said before on here, my first Tuscan was the 8th off the line and was delivered to Hawthorns around 25th Feb 2000. Hawthorns told me they wanted to keep the car for as long as it took to ensure it was spot on (they treat me very well). As it was the first customer car (for them) they went through it with a fine toothed comb which eventually took them about a week (which I was happy with as they sorted virtually everthing the factory couldn't be bothered to).

I can't remember exactly what they did but I do recall they found the speedo was completedly b@ggered (didn't even work as delivered to them), one of the exhaust cans was about 2 inches lower than the other (broken mount), some of the leather trim was torn and the paintwork was, well basically a disgrace (that took 3 months to sort out, which was actually rather fortunate as it turned out, because in the interim I managed to stuff it on a trackday and needed a 'little' bodywork TLC after that )

Anyway I think my advice is to tell them to go through it with a fine toothed comb (as it'll be their first customer Tamora) and accept that this may take longer but then it'll be worth it in the long run (i.e soon get it sorted now and know you'll have trouble free motoring afterwards).

Anyway I hope to see some pictures of your new pride and joy next Monday.

Cheers,
Mike.

Andrew, two things I noticed when I took HHC's car for a spin. Firstly, there was a glitch in the electrics, draining power and flatting the battery - something to do with the alarm system and nearside window electrics - I believe it's a full closure alarm, (bit pointless on a soft top) so get that checked. I'm sure I heard of another demo with the same fault. Also, get them to check that heat comes out of the dash vents. No matter how much fiddling with the vents, I could not get hot air out of the dash. Oh, and check the throttle linkage, because when you press the accelerator, the car seems to shoot forward like it's trying to headbutt the horizon. Lastly, make sure that they've added special additive to the petrol - you know the one that makes you go kinda giddy, and smile with the biggest, silliest grin you ever grinned!! Enjoy, my friend!

Thanks for the advice! I've been waiting a long time so a few more days won't matter! And better to find the faults now than when I'm driving it!
Once I get confirmation that it's arrived at least I'll be able to go and look at it!
Speed12 - feel free to take a look. Where do you live?
Cheers....... Andrew

Customer Tamora was supposed to arrive at TMS Today?

I think it's going to be one of the first customer cars to land?

Just been to see it! A bit nervous as to my interior colour choice but needn't have been! I thought it looked good! Charcoal Bison, Anthracite carpets and Royal Blue Lamonta. GTS Blue exterior.
It was being valletted and then goes into the workshop tomorrow for its PDI.
I get to pick it up on Friday so what a weekend it's going to be! I'll get some photos on the weekend.

Cheers ....... Andrew

PS. Already booked its 1000 mile service!

I'm glad your interior looks good, Andrew - I'm worried that my grey bison with grey carpets and blue Lamonta might look a bit dull, but maybe it'll just look classy and understated (like me!)

Looking forward to seeing your car next week, matey!!
If you're off to the Donington meet on Sunday, look out for my mate, Steve - driving a Red 4.5 Chimp. He will be there, and he's coming along on our factory jaunt next week. There's a picture of him and car under the member's name "macca"
