Omega-discount from AD?
Discussion
Hi
I need to buy somebody dear to me a gift and am looking at an Omega watch. I haven't decided between a Seamaster or Speedmaster, it'll be something off the shelf not a limited run etc. Will probably be between £4k and £5k.
Can anybody tell me if discounts can be had on these watches on the High St and if so what kind of percentage.
Thank you

I recently bought the Seamaster 300 with white face from an AD and I think the window price was £4450 and I got it for £4000 simply by asking if there was any benefit for paying there and then by debit card rather than taking out the 0% finance, the sales man went to speak to the floor manager and came back with £4000 if I bought it that day which I did.

I got mine in 2018.
I bought it from Heathrow Airport, thereby saving on VAT.
Although, word on the street was that an AD would give you 20% off anyway if you negotiated.
Not sure if that still applies due to Covid, etc.
Thanks. Yes I read that it was a tactic that could be employed when purchasing the watch ie saying that you could buy it for 20% less (actually 17% less, before some maths geek corrects me lol) and asking them to match it.I bought it from Heathrow Airport, thereby saving on VAT.

I also got my Speedmaster in 2019 from T5 at Heathrow to get the 20% off. I didn't try an AD although a quick conversation with them to say you could buy with VAT savings from there and would they match. I bought it from Heathrow Airport, thereby saving on VAT.

Alternatively, PH regular Dom Hackett offers some great deals and is well trusted and regarded.

20% is easily attainable with Omega
Not in my experience and I have bought 3 Omegas I've struggled to get off more than 10% from many shops especially WOS/Goldsmiths
I have got a good discount from Fraser Hart and Beaverbrooks but even then a full 20% is a stretch
Dom H may be able to help but he wasn't able to help me.
My advice would be to go to a town with a few ADs and be ready to buy that day and make it clear you will buy if you can get a good deal. Get the numbers straight in your head so you know what discount they are offering
Also if there is any extras you may like ie for the Speedy you might want to consider the clasp with quick adjust like the Seamaster and that will cost about £130 and like nato straps etc they might be persuaded to throw some in rather than discount as much

Not sure if it applies to the link you have posted or not but I looked at a few jewellers offering a discount if you sign up to a news letter and when you get into the small print they always exclude the big watch brands i.e Rolex, Omega etc. Jamescrs said:
