Surgery is me replacing all of the power distribution system. The cabling and connectors were in a horrible state, lot of corrosion and heat damage.
I cannot see any sensible reason for the main cable going from the battery to the starter and alternator to route past all of the hottest bits of the engine bay so it is all being re-routed. Cables and their resistance do not like heat!
I am also replacing all of the heat resistant matting in the engine bay as all of mine was falling to bits.
