Here is a worrying one re both depreciation and servicing costs...

...as its late, its been a hard week and my brain feels like mush I thought I would ask for some verification. I have just used my family car for a trip that I have used the Tamora for many times and have found that the odometer reading (which I use for expenses) is out by a whopping 13-14% (with the Tamora being on the HIGH side!!).

I thought that I would check theAA.com where you can plot a very exact route and found that my family car is in the ballpark (within 1-2 miles over circa 200 miles).

You can also do the math, but this means that a car reading 10000 miles has actually only covered 8811 miles (10000 / 1.135). Now if I have this right, I am one grumpy chap to be losing almost 1200 miles every 10000!! and the attendant acceleration of the servicing intervals and impact on depreciation!!

Perhaps someone else could track their mileage and compare with theAA.com and/or another car and tell me if they are experiencing the same rather major problem. I will understand if no one whose car is doing the opposite wants to come forward of course.

By my calcs, I am out circa 1500 miles - nice to know I am 2700 miles from my 12k service rather than 1200. I have now discussed with the dealer and will hope to have a resolution next week. I have the advantage of having quite a bit of evidence from expense claims over the past 10 months!
