Well, the title says it all.

If so, what sort of prices are being asked?

It does indeed Marcus - I got the nod the Tuesday after we spoke at Pistonfest. Just waiting for all the paperwork to be sorted out, and then, hmmm......!

Incidentally, did you get the Tuscan sorted - you said it was sounding a bit rough?

Well, I've been keeping it quiet while I sorted the insurance out, but I can tell you that the Tamora is one safe car, and I am one lucky guy. There must be some cat genetics in me somewhere.....

I'm not really sure what happened - I wa braking on a dry, straight road, near to home, and the next thing I knew I was sliding through a cornfield, upside down, having flipped over on a large rock (which split in two) after crossing over the road without hitting anyone.

It's a miracle I survived, everyone who's seen the car (Police, salvage, insurance engineer)has said I should be dead, but I didn't even get whiplash. The car was resting on the seat backs, boot lid and windscreen bar, and I had to kick the side window out to get out.

It's a sad end to a lovely car, no doubt someone will rebuild it, but it needs a new chassis and everything else replacing.

But it is a testament to the strength of the Tamora chassis and the energy absorbing effect of GRP. Shame that ABS might have prevented so serious a crash, but that's a debate for another day.

*cough* ... T350 spider in order?

I'd have one if they made it - but a T350spider, now that'd be a Tamora wouldn't it? ....

I wonder about that car - it was "unlucky" to say the least - it had more than it's fair share of scrapes, skids and moments in general - none of which were my fault, obviously!

Maybe I'll have better fortune with the next one!

Glad you are ok Nubbin.
Good to see the strength of the car saved your bacon, but could it have been a mechanical fault that chucked you off the road?

What are you replacing it with?

Cheers Glenn

I'll be looking for another Tamora, Glenn - not sure whether to go for a new one, or second hand - it depends on what's available - I've noticed the good Tamoras are getting snapped up very quickly. I'll wait until the insurance is sorted, then decide.

I've heard that they will not do the 390bhp upgrade on the Tamora - I presume they want the T350 to be the fastest.

I will ask for Tuscan S brakes, and lumbar supports, but otherwise there would be little I would change - oh, sports exhaust, but I've got one waiting, though I might change the design of that because, I have to admit, it was actually TOO LOUD!! And, I'll have Ambla, rather than Bison trim.

Alex, the car is written off, but I imagine the car will be sold for salvage, the estimated cost of repair being £33k +VAT! The engineers report mentioned engine and gearbox damage, but I don't know what that means - the radiator was ripped off but I can't see how the 'box would be damaged - it's very close to where I was, and I didn't get damaged!

Everything needs replacing though - from the chassis outwards - if you need a project, good luck, but I think it would be a lot of work, and a hell of a lot of money - a body tub is £20k+ to start with!

It was interesting chatting to the engineer - he told me of a Chimaera he saw last year, which went sideways into a tree, and completely crushed the driver area into the central backbone of the chassis - sadly, the driver was killed, (and I apologise if that brings up painful memories for anyone). I would not like to suffer the same sort of crash in a Griff or Chimaera, that's for sure - my only conclusion is that the Tamora/Tuscan/T350 chassis forms an extremely strong safety cage, with very good roll over protection. But don't go out to prove me wrong!!

Glad you're ok - your final comment suggests that you realise you had overcooked it a little 'cos ABS wouldn't have helped you in a complete freak accident would it? Rich... Onwards and upwards eh!

Rach, I say this because there seems no reason why I lost control - I did brake hard, but no harder than I've done on many other occassions, without drama. All I can remember is hitting the brake pedal, and the next thing was the sound of rushing grass as the car ploughed through the hedge. i didn't even gat any sound of screeching tyres, no smell of rubber, no sensation of the car breaking away - nothing. It must be driver error, because nothing else was involved. My only thought was a puncture or some diesel on the road, something like that.

I mention ABS because if it was my braking too heavily, and inducing a skid after locking up, that aspect at least would have been prevented by ABS. The rest would then be down to fate. Ah, well, lots of driver training will help!!

Interesting thought Rich - the lack of memory is more to do with the very short time span for the whole event - I can remember being upside down, dust getting into my mouth, trying to press myself upwards into the seat and tuck my head down to avoid head/neck injury, and even watching the ground sliding past "above" me! So, I was obviously aware that I was upside down, and able to quickly work out what to do to try to avoid injury - I can remember repeating in my head "keep down, keep down" and then struggling to undo the seat belt because my weight was on it, then shouting at myself, "Get out, get out" (thinking about fire), realising I was trapped by the side windows being pressed into the ground, and kicking the window out to drag myself free.

My experience of blackouts (I'm a G.P.) is very different to my situation. I may be absent-minded, but it's very different to absence of mind!!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone - I had a look at the road immediately after the accident, and there was very little to see - not really much in the way of tyre marks or anything - perhaps some dirty and crossed-over marks but no black trails - almost as if there had been no skid at all.

Still, I'm alive and glad of it!!

No - the Police had a quick look, and couldn't find any road problems. My guess is the rear brakes locked up before the fronts - not good!

nubbin - we haven't heard from you re. Tamora replacement. How's it going - any progress? Did you get your insurance sorted - no delayed effects from your inverted ride? Hope everything's working out.

Good luck.

jigs

PS In honour of your lucky escape I think you should change your name to 'unppiu' or should that be 'uiqqnu'? Was it just inverted or back-to-front inverted?

Can you animate it, jigs? It should look something like the 3D words screensaver in Windows!

I'm waiting until next Spring to get a replacement - I've just bought a replacement family car, so I need to do a bit of saving to recoup that cash. but then I will be going for something with a bit more colour!

Thanks Nick - Having a debate with Mrs. Nub at the momnet about which TVR to get next - surprisingly, it's Tamora vs. Chimaera - but I think the Tamora will win.....
