Well its 4 years since Rob placed the order for our 1st Aston - a Meteorite V8 Vantage that was registered on 1st January 2011. The Christmas present I bought him in 2010 became pretty much Rob & Molly's trademark: V888AMV.
6 Months on came the infamous story of Rob being overcome with desire for the newly-released Vantage S - so much so that he slipped off to H R Owen to place the order hoping that I wouldn't notice. I tracked him down with a phone call to the dealership but too late - he claimed the deed was already done!
It was at about that time that I joined PH - well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and in July 2011 we took delivery of our wonderful Tungsten V8 Vantage S. Not quite wonderful enough for Rob however, no, for him there was more to be had from the V8S set-up and Bamford Rose were the people to deliver it. There followed a car so good she deserved a name. What do you call a classy British beauty with a kick-a*s attitude? Answer - Purdey. We had 14,000 fantastic miles with Purdey before she met a tragic end on our daughter's wedding day. You know the story (if you don't and you really need to know just go back to my posts of 15 months ago).
Next came our Stratus White V8S and she got the BR treatment too - so we called her Pearl. We've had some great times together & I have to say she was a good deal more photogenic than any of the silver cars IMHO! ( cat - pigeons etc. )
Well the world keeps turning & my restless husband isn't the sort to stop looking and after 4 fabulous years with Aston Martin its time to move on. Where to? Somewhere faster, sharper and universally-motoring-journalist approved. I won't say exactly what the plan is right here & now but we are very lucky to have got a build slot for our next car &, whilst we have to wait until the end of the year, others have had to wait an awful lot longer!
There it is. Bye bye Aston Martin - thanks for the memories. We had a great time and met some great people - particularly those who joined us for our 3 Welsh Weekenders. We hope there will be life after AM & that at least some of you will still speak to us

Hope you enjoy the GT3 (guess), though the Pork forum has more handbags than this one I think, I'm sure Rob's subtlety will work wonders.
At least next years welsh weekender will be interesting - we may even let you park near us
It's been entertaining listening to you two over the past couple of years, and long may that continue with or without an AM. Hope the noisy beetle lives up to your expectations

Yes, Selon - the non-flammable, not-yet-built type

Welcome to the club, you two
Aston ownership is only ever a snapshot in time, albeit a highly fulfilling one - I'm surprised you lasted this long considering your constant flirting with Porsche !!
You only ever get out of a forum what you put in to it and you two deserve the gratitude of many on here. Your input, witticisms, erudition and groping will remain stuff of legend. People will recall the time they were inappropriately overtaken by Rob. Some women recall their first meeting with Rob, others remain in counselling
Forums reinvent themselves all the time - 240 or so turn up for Burghley and I'm still awaiting the new Rob, the new Seemon, the new Quinny, the new Cockernee......too many takers of advice, insufficient givers
Good luck Rob & Molly...many thanks for your companionship along the way
Thanks Jockman. Know exactly what you mean - like you, we shall be watching & waiting for the new characters of the forum to emerge. Mind you, with 36,000 miles of Aston ownership behind us I expect we will still be on hand, like yourself, to offer advice (whether they want it or not ).Aston ownership is only ever a snapshot in time, albeit a highly fulfilling one - I'm surprised you lasted this long considering your constant flirting with Porsche !!

Nick - not white & not silver but w & s (wait & see)
BTW - unrelated to the thread (& I wouldn't want to take it off topic - heaven forbid!) but Rob's on the wagon!!!! (11 days now!)
.... I however am not:
Thoughtful present from the neighbours

Thank you Michael. Wasn't she lovely. Took me a minute to recognise that location & thought for a moment that Rob had been up to no good! However, I think that is outside the Lanesborough where Rob didn't trust the bloke doing the valet parking & went with him V8KSN said:
Wow! I thought you would be an Aston couple for life!
By bye Purdey....Bye bye Pearl.....hello GT3
Rob, Moll, you need to get yourself booked on Alpine Assault 2015, get your name put down now please! Would be great to see you and the rest on tour again.

Like the photo. Funnily enough we happened to find that same restaurant on tour this summer - we were there on 10/07/14:
I think we had better wait 'til we actually have a GT3 in our garage before we book any tours but we are really looking forward to the PHN reunion & I'm only disappointed that our big news is out now so I can't surprise you with it then!
PS Please look after our Aston friends Martyn & Mona on tour next month - they are PHN virgins and don't know what they've let themselves in for yet
As a number of you have asked about the spec, well you have probably gathered by now that its going to be Guards Red (we've done a couple of shades of silver plus a white one with Aston so lets be seen - safety first ) as for the rest, front axle lifters (still pretty damn low to the ground even with this feature!), heated seats, cruise (yes, we still want our creature comforts), the usual stuff like comms pack, tracking etc plus the sport chrono pack.

Therein lies my point, Jeff....
Who in their right mind wants to be inappropriately overtaken on the Brecon Beacons by an Alan Rickman look-a-likey in his late 50s driving a car with an enormous 'fin' on the back of it?
I think we need to send Molly a wig and a moustache to disguise herself
This is what we loved about this forum - the daft, irreverent off-topicism that used to happen here. I do have my doubts that there will be much of that wiv ze jermans.Who in their right mind wants to be inappropriately overtaken on the Brecon Beacons by an Alan Rickman look-a-likey in his late 50s driving a car with an enormous 'fin' on the back of it?

In the meantime - I started this thread so please feel free to take it as far off topic as you wish
Alan Rickman? I think I can see where you're coming from there Jockers!

Oh Dear Geoff what have you said. Molly is currently getting dressed for work. I have just peered upstairs to see five and a half inch heels a lot of thigh, pencil skirt and a blouse that seems to have exploded. Please wish me luck I think that I am going to need it. It seems that I am going to have a scarlet woman to match my car.
it didn't happen Jockman said:
Erm....I think you will find that you didn't start this thread
Some luverly, kind, warm-hearted Aston enthusiast named MollyGTi initiated this woeful tale.
If you're not happy about Alan Rickman, I'll throw in Geoffrey Rush too
I only changed the 'i' to a '3' - its only my car-brand allegiance that's changed - in all other ways I think you'll find I'm still the same innocent, sweet-natured slip of a girl that has graced this forum for the past 38 months Some luverly, kind, warm-hearted Aston enthusiast named MollyGTi initiated this woeful tale.

How much time & thought went into coming up with those 2 names as comparisons to himself?! I'll be disappointed if you don't come up with a suitable look-a-likey for me too!

Rob all you need now is driving lessons
Seriously good luck with the Porker, that will be a missile on the track for sure. I am interested how it will fair crossing continents and will read your future reports of European driving trips no doubt.
At least it will be subtle Rob, just like you
I take it you are offering your services there Cockers? Pah! Who needs lessons? I will admit we are looking forward to going to Silverstone for the Porsche boys to teach us how to handle one of these beasties tho' I expect Rob could teach them a thing or two Seriously good luck with the Porker, that will be a missile on the track for sure. As for use as a tourer - well we have already been reading the experiences of others and its very encouraging. Its less wild than its predecessors (until you want it to be). For anyone interested here's just one well-respected journo's opinion of it:

V888AMV will shortly be on retention, pm me if anyone is interested.
We haven't done anything about this yet but the number is now on retention and it certainly doesn't belong on a Porsche. I don't know who had it before us but I hope it will find a good home with another lovely V8 Aston Martin in the future.chrisnov8 said:
