I've just nipped out to take a look at the SottoZeros on my V12V, and they are 'W' rated; so max speed is 270 Km/h or 168mph. I did a stint at a little over 140 mph while in Germany a month ago.

My rears have "275/35 R19 100W". It's that last letter that is the speed rating.

Archie - much better!

Do I just look for a letter alongside the usual 335/35 numbers that are all gibberish to me?
Dont go JohnG1. The Porsches will be flying.

If it stays dry and mild I would pop the standard wheels and tyres back on John. Hope you have a great day. Always fancied doing that as a change from a track day.

I went out for a run this morning. I managed to get the traction light on quite a bit!

Had them last winter going 270kmh (around 167mph) on a daily basis. No probs. You might want to drive slower outside german autobahns though :-)

No TC light?

Nope, why should it light? I don't do burnouts. Today the autobahn was free again, so 270km/h :-). But of course, on a wet day, you get TC light on pretty easy in the city.

I didn't get the TC light either, but it was dry and I wasn't expecting to during my (admittedly brief) run at over 130mph in Germany. I am puzzled why it would have come on during your run, John.

I don't do burnouts! I'm more driving Miss Daisy rather than Senna: The movie.

I just found that the TC light came on pretty much nonstop above 140mph in a straight line. I'll ask the garage to have a look...

Title says it all. I may be invited to a runway style maximum speed event over the holidays and I wonder what is the maximum safe speed for a Pirelli Sotto Zero. Note - this is not a track day, just blasting up and down a runway somewhere...
Thought you weren't going to track the car?

If I were to go there, I think I'd swap back to the summer wheels. As things stand, I might go in the summer. Derestrictor was rude about my DB9 and said I should bring the M5 last time (couldn't make it). Next time he mentions it, I am better armed.

Didn't track it - just up and down in a straight line.

But I found the back end was twitchy, TC light was on intermittently from 120 and after 140 or so it was pretty much constant. I know that means that the brakes are being engaged and I did not want to burn off a set of CCM discs so I decided to back off and go do something else instead. Of course I could have turned off the TC but I am a pretty poor driver and I rather like the "safety net"....

OMG you took your own car on an airfield. Suggest you have a little lie down after that wink

Are you certain it was the traction control light coming on, and not some other warning or info light?

You should be worried. If you are that fast in a straight an the system engages, either you are doing something terribly wrong and are way to fast for the road surface or your system is faulty.
Trust me, I am every (dry) day at that speed and I NEVER see that light coming. Which means also that I am not that fast if the surface will not allow it.

By the way: here is a short film in my Vantage on winter tyres :-). The yellow light is NOT the TC Light but the one from TPM. The RIMS had the standard sensors, wouldn't communicate with the MY2011 receiever.
