Is this plate owned by Aston Martin?
A Rapide with the above plate pulled up at the pump behind me at the petrol station yesterday.
Unfortunately I was not in my Aston and the driver did not seem too amused when I asked him if it was a press car to which he replied no!
I did try and compliment him on his plate, thinking it was a great plate (which for some reason I thought Aston owned) but I think all interest in talking about his car was lost when I 'presumed' it was a press car

Who can possibly have so little sense of humour as to take offence when asked a question like that, when he must know that his plate looks like a factory owned item, and half the people he passes think it is a factory car?
Especially when it is a factory plate on a factory car.MichaelV8V said:

Sounds like Bez, he would have been offended that you thought he was a member of the press and didn't immediately recognise him as the great Dr. Ulrich Bez. An unfortunate statement on how he percieves his "fame"
But quiet funny

Shame you weren't in your Aston....I wonder if the reaction would have been the same. Sounds like he's a bit in love with his own ring piece if you ask me....if you don't want people to think it's a press car don't use a number plate that's used for presss/promotional cars.A Rapide with the above plate pulled up at the pump behind me at the petrol station yesterday.

Now in fairness to this Dr Bez (after a quick google search).........it wasn't him.........but based on the reaction from you guys, I reckon it was someone from his immediate team for the way he responded to my question
I don't think the reply would have been any better if I was in my Aston, I might have got the 'poor mans only got a V8' look
I'm pretty certain it was in a light blue colour, can't rem for definite now!

AML 1 must be one of the most swapped plate on a car.
I gather that this is a long standing Aston Martin tradition.
It has been mentioned that the esteemed founder, Mr. Lionel Martin, often changed engines, bodies and number plates. At least one car was even sold bearing a registration belonging to another vehicle. The owner remained oblivious to it for 50 years. No computers in those days !
