I've owned my 2006 V8V since March this year. Bought with 17k miles and now on 22500.
So come March it will be out of warranty. I know come March I will have road tax, rear tyres and a service costs so budgeting about £2200 all in. The car has been great, not put a foot wrong. It's actually my second car as I have a Volvo C30 (and to be fair...I can only assume it's in my garage as I've not looked at it for a few weeks).
So been looking on PH classifieds for a replacement and the only 2...maybe 3 cars that interest me are:
997 Turbo. Perfect all rounder and I could use as a daily (sell the C30).
997 C2/4S. Same as above although bit less traction in winter.
Evora S...well I've owned most modern day Lotus's so why not.
What's everyones thoughts on keeping my current set up vs selling for one of the above.

Gareth, this has got to be all about your personal circumstances. If money is no real issue, then why not have a change? I personally wouldn't move from AM at the moment because I'm new to the brand, and I certainly wouldn't use the warranty expiring as a reason to drift away. Think of the cost of selling versus an extended warranty. It may be that you can live without a warranty, as the car is behaving itself. Your choice, I'm afraid. I'd stay put, but that's just me. happy 
Many of us are running without warranty Gareth.
Stick 6 months RFL on the car in March while you decide. You can then at least stop your road tax running coterminous with your servicing etc. If you do then decide to sell you will be entering a period that should yield a higher selling price

997 turbo doesn't look as good ( still looks ok), but boy is it one hell of a driving machine! Ive been pondering the same thing but there's a magic to Aston. They just command elevated road status. If I was in a 997 (again) and saw an Aston driving nearby then I'd feel slightly humbled. S I'm carrying on without, but keeping the Aston.

sounds like you are just looking for an excuse to change cars and a few service bills due is an easy way to justify it ...quite a common path for petrolheads I know ...have used that logic myself in the past
oooh...it needs money spending on it and Ive had it a year, quick, change it for something new and different
It always ends up costing you more, but spending more money and getting something different always feels better than spending money on maintaining what youve got ....its just man logic ...just try not to do it with the women in your life otherwise it will get waaaaayy more expensive than changing a car LOL
personally I wouldnt dream of swapping the Vantage for a 911 ...but it depends on what appeals most to you....if you are on a "go fast" trip and want to experience a truly fast road car for a while, a 911 Turbo would fit the bill

yeah, I know...thats why ive still got my old Vantage ...I havnt saved up enough yet for as V12Vantage and then they went and did the roadster...so I have to wait some more time and get the one I really want..I cant think of anything else I want to replace it with other than another newer one, with no roof and more poke
the depreciation on what you have is glacial in comparison to anything newer you can buy
it will probably cost you more to change in what you lose on your own car and pay margin on a different one....but if you really want a change of car, I know what its like, youve got to do it a few times, spend ££££ and maybe you come to the conclusion that the car you had 5 years ago is what you were most happy with....everybody is different and our life needs change over time
just dont kid yourself changing cars is cheaper, unless you really are going to sell the Vantage for cash and buy a Honda Jazz

Yes you're right Gareth. It cost me £22k to go from a 2007 4.3 V8V to a 2009 4.7 V8VR.I owned the 4.3 outright, so I financed the jump up to the 4.7 Roadster, which has worked out at £600/month over 2 years with a £10k balloon. Haven't regretted once, and if I sold the car tomorrow, I'd still have £31 - £34k of equity in the car which is pretty much what my 4.3 would be worth now.
Don't understimate the jump to a 4.7 (performance-wise), and the interior upgrade to the MY09+.
And as lovely and rare as N400 is, it's an optioned-up version of your car, with another 10bhp somewhere

If Aston Martin ownership provides enjoyment for you, then keep your V8V.
Porsche build some great cars, but there are now so many on the roads, they certainly cannot match Aston Martin in the 'special occasion' stakes.
On a recent two hour motorway trip, I counted 12 Porsches (too boring to know the model designations), and just 1 Aston Martin. Wow, how it stood out amongst the drab traffic (a brand new yellow Vanquish).
Remember, the motor trade just love people, who frequently spend money changing their cars.
My method has been, buy a car every 8 or 10 years, and then keep the previous one. Motor dealers hate that method, but it does minimise depreciation, and you eventually get your own car museum!

I sold my V8V in September. Absolutely loved it but fancied a change (i'd just fully serviced it and put new boots on it therefore wasn't a case of cash). Bought a Porsche a week later and it was traded in last week against...another Aston. V8V Roadster this time.
There are a few things about the Aston I don't like but I have to admit, buying something else was the biggest mistake I have made in my car buying history.
Evora S is a great car if you fancy a change however. Feels much racier and the one Craig took me out in was absolutely rapid! That would be my choice from your list.

So what Porker did you buy and I thought you were after a 360?
To be honest, I've been looking at 993 Turbos...if I'm to put £20k in at least it will hold its value and it's a beautiful car.

They are getting old now, they really are. And they only don't lose their value if you don't drive them!But they are beautiful... certainly a high point for Porsche and the last of the air cooled cars
