wheel cleaning with CCBs
Discussion
So with all the talk on here about the CCbs, how getting them wet damages this disc ,so BM prefers to wash the wheel off the car and all this. How do owners look after there CCBs? Even if the wheels dont get brake dust they will still pick up road grime and tar spot , then there is the wheel arch linners that must be cleaned, also the calipers, so the whole wheel and brakes will get wet.
Whats the best method ?

Hi Paul, I just use soap and water on mine and not had any problems. Probably someone will come along and tell me that's wrong but mine has just been serviced and all reported as OK.
What kind of soap, Ian? Pear, Dove, Simple, Asda Basics...Hard or Soft Water??

After asking around, I have been told consistently not to use chemicals on ceramic brakes.
I just use a PH neutral car shampoo and a couple of wheel brushes when cleaning Dad's Virage. It might be overkill, but I bought separate wheel brushes to those used when cleaning other cars' wheels with a chemical cleaner.
As for the wheel arches, I have found a thorough pressure wash seems to suffice.
If the wheels are particularly grubby or tar spotted, then I would suggest removing the wheels to clean them in the usual chemical and tar remover way. Whenever the car visits the dealer, Dad asks them to do this (I know it's lazy! )
My final process is to towel dry the discs as much as possible so lots of water doesn't sit on the discs. Again this is probably overkill.

Apologies Phil. My vagueness was purposeful because I haven't the faintest what shampoo I use (it's a nice pink colour and smells nice) and as for the water it's whatever comes out of the spring - I'm told it originates somewhere across the channel in Wales. It seems to work though! Hope that helps those who may have been confused by my original post Hard or Soft Water??

Further key information would include the size of bucket, type of sponge, prevailing weather conditions and wife's bra size.
Thanking you in advance

Good point Phil and I should mention you need at least two buckets, the bigger the better, can't believe you were even thinking of using a sponge, yes there needs to be weather ........ Sorry lost connecti.....Further key information would include the size of bucket, type of sponge, prevailing weather conditions and wife's bra size.

This is the very last time I will post this. I use Muc Off as I do get pad debris and then jet wash off after a few mins. Had the car 3 years and AFAIK all is well. Pads changed a couple of months ago and the grease monkey who did the job didn't suggest the discs were shagged HTH
