I know Bamford Rose install these as part of their standard equipment but has anyone fitted this themselves and/or able to share a guide/instructions? I'd love to have a 3-way exhaust valve switch to flip between 1) always closed, 2) factory default and 3) always open.

PHer Black9 mentioned the below in a thread I found from many years ago

Yes it is possible to do but you will need a 3 position switch (on-off-on).
Basically the valves are operated by a feed from the body control module that controls the valve making them open on cold startup.

To make it work silent you would need to take a switched feed from the ignition, that way when you turn the key to position 1 or insert the ECU key it would activate the valves making the exhaust quiet through the entire rev range.

With a 3 position switch you get three options:

Position 1 = Ecu controlled (standard)
Position 2 = Open (fuse 22)
Position 3 = quiet (Closed)

Here is a video on how it works.

My advice is to go with the CC Charger remote, less hassle to install, no holes in the dashboard/steering column and works like a charm. Not sure if you can have the always closed with this, but I was not interested.

BR fitted this for a very reasonable cost for me a few years ago at Burghley. A permanent 3 option wired solution is stronger than a battery powered key fob install - might be worth asking them, or probably any reputable indy how much. For £50 or so it's a no brainer!

I bought a cc remote and it worked fine. Then I got the BR solution as part of the primary decat solution which as mentioned has the advantage of quiet mode, which does have its uses occasionally. My cc remote (the one that remembers the last setting) is sat unused if anyone is after one at a bargain price.

Someone needs to snap this up - the cc remote is brilliant - literally one minute to fit it and then just switch back and forth when you feel like it.
Mine is on loud about 95% of the time - switch to quiet when cruising the motorway or when leaving or arriving home - love it smile
PS - I have secondary decat pipes on my V12VSR as well so loud is loud !!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all. Does anyone know how I might go about wiring in a switch myself? Happy to have a crack at it so long as I know what needs to be done.

The CC Charger remote essentially flips between having Fuse 15/22 in or out which is great, but not quite as sleek as a discretely fitted 3-way switch (with the benefit of an always quiet mode)

I'll PM you as while not my preferred solution, I might well be interested in the remote as a temporary solution (and I can always pass it onto another PHer should I change to a switch!)

Out of interest, how much use is the quiet mode given the valves don't open until 4k/3k RPM (i think) in normal/sport mode anyway? Suppose if you're doing some hard driving in the high rev ranges it has appeal beyond the standard fuse-in approach

Just in case anyone else is after a ccc switch, mine is going to a new home now and is no longer available.

I can recommend the cc switch. Little remote in the door bin. LOUD or loud are the two settings.

Bought mine of Ashway , to be honest I can’t tell the difference to leaving the car in sport mode.

I do suffer from selective deafness though....

I couldn’t tell the difference either.

However, when stripping down my rear end I found pop rivets inserted into the vacuum pipes and the pipes disconnected from the exhaust flap actuator.

According to Clive at CCC this is a common situation. Owners keep the valves open permanently by blocking the pipes as an alternative to removing 22/15.

Definitely worth checking underneath.

With regards to a discrete switch, if you have 3 buttons on the underside of your rear view mirror these are remote gate/garage door openers. They can be programmed quite easily to operate the exhaust flaps and therefore no need for another switch.

Also pretty cool as a means of operating the flaps - very James Bond without the body count...

Thanks for the advice , but I bought my car new and I don’t think any pop rivets will be on show.

I installed the remote switch on my 2015, bought new. I could not tell the difference either. I ended removing the switch and leaving the fuse 15 out.

Would you have the instructions on how to program these switches?

How do you programme these buttons on the mirror? Sounds like an ideal solution.

Instructions are in the Vantage manual. I think it’s called the “Homelink” system...

Extremely simple !

So if I understand correctly. I will need to program one of the buttons under the mirror to the remote key fob that that came with the exhaust valve switch kit? Now I just need to located the exhaust switch I purchased. The change was so subtle between the valve being open and closed, I took it off and boxed it away somewhere. I am fitting my car with valved Larini back box and their secondary cat delete pipes, so now I may need the valve remote kit now.

All my cars have this homelink system, but I have never bothered to use it. I just clip the remote on the visor, since the Vantage Visors are about 2" wide, I just keep in the console.

If you’re going cat delete then it might be worth checking whether you start loud or quiet. Starting loud might be too loud with the new system.

Clive at CCC can re-programme the fob and fuse unit to start quiet and he doesn’t charge much.

I don’t have the cat delete pipes yet, they are made to order. About a month. I want the loud cold start. thumbup Tastefully of course. That’s why I bought the valved Larini.
