My Mini is going to be far too out of place, maybe I should give the V8V a run out. Anybody care to estimate how many miles the car is good for after the brake pad warning light comes on?
Should be good for a good couple of hundred miles with normal driving.

Yay, will be a bit more positive with my right foot so nearer 11.15am. Any Essexers passing,

I would agree with the others. You probably have a couple of hundred miles after the warning light comes on.

However, you shouldn't be at all worried about turning up in the Mini. You are, after all, the UK's official Aston photographer. Some of us will definitely go down to the Hindhead Tunnel afterwards. It would be good to have you with us to record the event.

Blimey Di, you are keen I was meeting George at Dartford 11.45 and would easily be to Brooklands by 12.30, perhaps we could meet earlier and meet you at Clackets at 11.30 or is that too long for you to wait?

Knowing manufacturers, that warning light will come on way before they are getting dangerously low. I have taken them out and seen how much meat is on the pads when it gets to the wear sensors. Personally I would not be worried about a few hundred miles. The only shame is that you will not be able to save the sensors and will need to buy new ones with the new pads.

Right i volunteered to give directions for some interesting roads around. had planned route to go past McLaren factory entrance, through Chobham then to Guildford via the Pirbright bends then onto the A3 to the Hindhead Tunnel. However, with the number of cars going, it may be more practicable to just got to the A3 (5mins from Brooklands) and head in convoy for the Hindhead Tunnel ~ 25 mins on the A3.
The scenic route will take 30 mins to Guildford then 15-20 mins to the Tunnel
Obviously people can just stay and chat at Brooklands.

Anyone wanting the scenic route see below:-

Brooklands
Turn right onto Brooklands Road B374
Straight over first roundabout
Turn right at roundabout onto A245 – Parvis Road
Straight on at 3 roundabouts
Over M25
Through West Byfleet
Turn right at mini roundabout – A245 signposted Woking
Left at next mini Roundabout – Woodham Lane A245
At next big roundabout, right onto last exit (5th exit) – Chersey Road A320
Straight over next roundabout, waving at the Mclaren factory entrance!
At next roundabout, first left, Chobham Road A319
Follow road
Past Fairoaks Airport (aka McLaren / Ron Dennis landing strip)
At T junction left onto High Street A319
Almost immediately onto a mini roundabout (Chobham) right Vicarage Road A319
Follow road – becomes Bagshot Road
At big roundabout, straight over onto Red Road B311 (very bumpy at speed!)
Follow road
At top of hill, roundabout, left onto The Maultway B311
Follow road
Straight over mini roundabout Deepcut Bridge Road B3015
Beware of speed humps!
At T junction left onto Guildford Road B3012
Follow road, lots of bends!
Left at junction Gapemouth Road B3012
T junction right A324
Left at roundabout onto Guildford Road B3032
Follow road
At Junction right onto Heath Mill Road B380
Short distance to roundabout (Fox Corner) right onto A322
Follow Road to AS3 junction
Right onto A3
Follow Road to Hindhead Tunnel

Shmee if you go in the Aston, but are worried about the additional distance to the Hindhead Tunnel, you can come in my car as I live 5 minutes from Brooklands, so will be coming back that way anyway.
Will give you a chance to video all the Astons through the Tunnel!

Ok, I can definitely make it, will be heading up from Southampton, however I'm without a navigator today, and will inevitably get lost somewhere wink

I'll try and use the postcode from the website, and see how far that gets me.

even the Aston satnav can find Brooklands!
when you get within 400 yards just ignore it when it says left at the roundabout, straight on and first left
