Be nice to do it in a day if possible.
I generally overnight in Beaune for rhat trip. However, it is doable to get to Geneva in a day but you eliminate the fun roads. Problem would be hitting the Juras which are the best roads late in the day when we've had enough and are losing the light! However, sunrise in Calais is 7am and sunset in Geneva at 8:30pm for mid April... We can do it if we need to. Personally I'd rather enjoy the drive down over 2 days and sprint home in one?
Opinions..?

To drive through Beaune, and not visit the arbarth museum at the chateau in Savigny -les-Beaune would be a crime against petrol headsHowever, sunrise in Calais is 7am and sunset in Geneva at 8:30pm for mid April... I'm easy either way. An overnight stop sounds good to me in which case we have a four day trip. However, sunrise in Calais is 7am and sunset in Geneva at 8:30pm for mid April... We can do it if we need to. Personally I'd rather enjoy the drive down over 2 days and sprint home in one?

Overnight stay fine for us too . May stay on a couple of days and return via Samoens. Chalet details are here for anybody else who may be interested. http://www.sawdays.co.uk/special-places/france/rho...
I think then we'll plan the trip for a definite 2 days to Geneva and then the option of either 1 or 2 days home depending on who needs to work.
I will probably take the 2 days to go home too, possibly via the Black Forest if any interest, but we'll have a seperate group with a motorway itinery for the way back to be done in a day. Stick cruise at 88mph, les flic are not interested, the Aston is doing 20mpg+ and you cover a lot of ground very efficiently.
Simon, we'll get to chat about it at the D&D I hope..?

Flexibility for the return would be great. I will try and get a Wednesday or Thursday date in April to provide the weekend for a more leisurely return.I will probably take the 2 days to go home too, possibly via the Black Forest if any interest, but we'll have a seperate group with a motorway itinery for the way back to be done in a day. I don't think I have seen 20mpg yet - that would be nice
D&D discussion to follow.
I was thinking about taking in the Schlumpf collection in Mulhouse on the return leg.

I normally stay at Le Cep in Beaune which has a good secure courtyard for the cars - where do you normally stay ?Do you eat at Le Benaton ? I first went there about 8 yrs ago and have been 3 or 4 times since - it's gained a michelin star since I first started going, I think about 3 yrs ago. Not that there's a shortage of good places to eat & drink in the region !
Mind you if we go as far as Beaune on the first day, I'll have to drive down to the coast the night before as it's 250 miles from Manchester to eurotunnel/ferry at Folkstone and from memory it's then the best part of 400 miles via champagne to Beaune

Stayed here when touring in a group http://www.chateaudechallanges.com/uk/index.php as it's got plenty of safe car parking space abnd is about 2 miles outside of town. They then organised a mini-bus for us to get into town and back for dinner. Eu10 each way or something..And here http://www.lecedre-beaune.com/uk/index.php when we're on our own.
Never had a bad meal in Beaune
