Riccardino, I have only just caught up with this thread which has gone downhill it would seem. It has drifted off track several times.

Hi N7GTX
Understand what you meant regarding the Honda Jazz driver and agree with and understand what you say.

But that was the problem I was trying to highlight.
I like everything which has an engine (even if I would not be able to fix even a flat tyre) and particularly love english cars (it might sound strange for an Italian but it is true) and particularly Aston. I like the soul of those cars and how they look even if I know you might be able to find something more powerful, funny, quick for much less money
I am lucky enough (actually would not say lucky because I work very hard) to have to possibility to buy an Aston even if at the moment it does not make sense for me because I travel a lot and it would spend most of the time in garage not being used.

Still like reading the discussions here, share the joy if anybody buys an Aston and contribute if I can (was testing cars as opinion driver, still sometimes invited to events and have some accesses to media internet sites etc).
Just have problems with this concept of a closed club and some having the "right" to reduce discussion to an endless banter or that only member of the club will be considered and whatever they say is right. At the end of the day owning a car does not change who you are or makes you different from whoever does not own that car, you just own a car that you like and you are lucky to have the money to buy it. Things in life can change and if you buy another car more or less expensive than an Aston you are still the same person. It is not that by buying an Aston you enter into an elite of people
I have also always loved the english approach to car which is very practical and pragmatic. In Italy often you buy (or lets say you did buy) a status symbol and you keep it for long probably (and maybe supercars owner where the one eating bread and water and avoiding to pay tax to maintain the car) while in UK the people seems to be more oriented to "I buy what I like and for my personal amusement"

That is why I have problem readying owners flagging others like less then them only because they do not have an Aston or even worst they have a Jaguar or a Maserati (because they do not know how it feels, or because Jag is Aston cheap etc). No problem in comments even saying that the perceived quality, or look etc of an F-Type is less etc. In buying a car a lot of factors can be involved and everybody has his own view on priorities. There is no right or wrong.
I have read a discussion on the nissan GTR here and saw again the comment "and it is a Nissan". That annoys me because somebody that gives priorities to quick driving and lap times would obviously got for a GTR vs an Aston even if they have the money to buy an Aston. I am never going to say he bought a Nissan GTR because he cannot afford an Aston.

It is very difficult to have discussion also of comparison with other car (and as said Aston owners opened them) without reading those thing over and over and if you say anything you are a troll

I hope I have not offended anybody even if I might expect the usual reactions

taking part on what is an AM forum for OWNERS of the AM marque.

If anyone doesn't like it and doesn't feel part of the 'club' it really is quite simple, either get an AM or troll another forum. May I respectfully suggest that they do the latter.

Sorry but can you tell where it is written that you can only participate to this forum if you own an Aston?
Eventually the contribution will be different (but some people without an Aston might know much more about cars than an Aston owner and thus provide great contributions) but why if you like those cars and for whatever reason you do not have one you cannot participate?

Also this is a forum not a club, it is not owned by a club it is a public forum where anybody should be allowed to contribute. Eventually the AMOC forum is of a Club (but even there you can post in certain section whitout being a member)

I don't know about anybody else, but this thread is starting to piss me off. And like many others should do if they don't like threads, I'm going to stop reading it, as it appears to have become a place to air hidden grievances rather than discuss cars. And it's more than a little tedious hearing the same old tat being recycled by some. Hopefully it will whither on the vine.

Yup, only just noticed it - pretty sad thread frown

I actually like the F-Type, but I won't be buying one anytime soon.

So, as we are comparing aston v jags (somthing which has been done by the motoring press ever since they decided to compare cars, what do we reckon?

aston jaguar

2litre. SS100
Db2/4. Xk range
DBR1 D-type
Db4/5. Etype
DBS V8. V12. E-type
V8 Vantage and XJS
Virage and XJR-S
DB7 and XK8
DB7 Vantage and XKR
V8 vantage and XKR
Rapide and XJ
V8 Vantage and F-Type

With the exception of first and last, I have seen/read comparisons of all those cars. They always will be compared. Personally, I'm glad such cars exist. That they are developed and built in Britain adds so much too.
Wow, didn't know all these had been compared - any links?

Wonder how the DBR1 and D Type compared???

Comparisons are great but sometimes could be staged a bit better IMO. I think that AM V12 vs V8 F Type would have been more fair. Maybe DBS vs XKR would have been interesting as well.

In the end it really doesn't matter as we are all different and all have our own preferences. I like Jaguars and as such would never diss them. I have all sorts of cars, took my C1 out shopping today.....great little car.

That's my street cred shot to hell now smash

The Jag is good, and the Vantage is good. My preference is ... (you all know).
We don't want to be accused of going off topic, Tony.

Ah yes, the latest Citroens. I like the designs, but oh those daytime running lights. They dazzle me unless I squint, but then I run over pedestrians. What are those lights for? When the sun shines, cars are not difficult to see. Perhaps the idea is to help anyone who has impaired vision.

When sun shines the reflection from the dash makes it look like the windscreen is a chequer board. The running lights do their job and warn that some nutter in the car can't see where he is going biglaugh

Either you run pedestrians over or I do hehe
