I know it's sacrilegious to display even a tiny hint of negativity towards AM on here and it's what has put me off from signing up (likewise the constant whinging about the new Vantage is equally tedious). I love the Vantage, and want one, but the DBX is completely lost on me. Pricing, styling, everything. I understand that the Bentayga and similar are aimed at Chinese buyers, so perhaps the DBX will do well there. I hope it does, but that doesn't mean I have to agree it's a good looking car.

I have posted negative opinions on occasions phatwaj, when I felt it was deserved. Think different opinions should be respected on this forum, but not if repeated constantly. I have received strong objections, but very much later, occasionally such comments can turn out to be inspired.

Personally I cannot understand the rapid popularity of SUVs, and now it seems that the environment aspect is begining to be mentioned. Two tons of non-aerodynamic metal obviously takes more shifting, than one ton or so of car (estate if you need carrying capacity).

Even so, for the survival of AML the DBX is now clearly crucial. Therefore I want it to sell well and very pleased to see good orders reported. USA and China presumably are the major markets, but am sure there will be UK demand as well. I have not seen a DBX yet, but photographs of the interior do make it look very luxurious and therefore appealing to buyers of that type of vehicle.

The SUV box shape is inevitably going make all of them look fairly similar, and they can never be as beautiful as a good looking sports car.

We seem to have similar opinions.

Couple of comments:

Risk of AML going under and what happens to PCP deal if so : answer is nothing. When you take out the PCP / Hire Purchase agreement the car is immediately sold by the dealer to BMW Financial Services who own it and lease it to you. It remains in their ownership unless you opt to pay the final balloon payment at the end of the term. AML (and the dealer) act only as an introducer. You are the registered keeper of the car, but not the owner (and you should declare this to your insurance but I bet nobody understand this nor does).

New Vantage Deals. The heavily subsidised £24-£26k deals are gone but there are still good deals to be had. I just took a delivery of a MY20.5 fully loaded Vantage that was in the wholesale system with the colour and almost every option I wanted and then some, £144k factory list price. I am paying £32k for two years (and I could choose how much of that was downpayment versus monthly), which is still excellent value (relatively!), so negotiate hard. This is exactly half what the factory order list price (£144k) to realistic 2 year value (£80k) depreciation would be: I see year old Vantages are already at £88k on the forecourt, in two years time they will be offering sub £80k on trade yet residuals on finance are still around the £90k mark. Options make little to no difference on resale value. So will definitely be giving it back at the end of the term (and hopefully having another)!

Unfortunately, not everyone does like the new DBX.
And thankfully most people love Aston Martin and take people’s forum opinions with a the pinch of salt, they have to sell 4000 units worldwide. It could look like the back end of a bus and they would still sell that many. If not, I will happily help them out in a year with a cheap lease deal!

Mate, if you listen to forum experts (PH seems a lot worse than most) you will never buy anything!
You, should of just bit the bullet. £24k for a brand new £140k AM Vantage! I mean, come on. Most of this would of been lost as I drove away from the dealer if I paid cash.
The establishment frown on these deals, because they think they are snobs. Others think you are not really an Aston customer because you rented your car.

Me, I love having an Aston sat in the garage, it’s for nothing (relatively) 2 years, see where the residuals are. Pay the balance or move it on. Very, very simple deal.

I couldn't care less what others think of why I chose the car I drive, or how I finance it. As I'm sure is commob with many posting in this subforum I've purchased or PCP-d many flashy cars over the years. The reason I didn't bite the bullet with this is simply because the timing wasn't right for me in December when I was out of the country, and in any case I'd like to see what deals they come up with next. The chances of them not repeating or even beating that deal are slim IMO, but maybe that's wishful thinking biggrin

Have you driven one yet ? I hadn’t even seen one in the flesh until 2 days before I ordered mine; then I ordered one from a different dealer in a completely different spec that I had looked at! I hope the right deal with the right timing comes up for you as they really are a cracking motor.

I guess it depends on how things work out with the DBX. From Robs post earlier in this thread, it sounds like AML could be moving towards a different business plan for the Vantage. Built to order only will mean there won’t be as many about, and as such, the necessity to offer deals to shift inventory is unlikely to happen on such a scale again. It’s quite ironic really, that the old big seller could fade away in to the doldrums, at the expense of the SUV. But that is what makes money nowadays and I sincerely hope they sell enough of them to generate the required revenues. I suspect there could be a few Vantage bargains about in two years time though, when all those who signed up in December hand their cars back.

Best Regards

I have an £80k balloon. If I've really enjoyed it, which I am as a second car, I'll likely buy or finance it again. It'll only be just over 2 years old. Sunny days and long trips around the UK and Europe. Mega.

Every day I mope around, never in a rush at the speed limit in a Q7 that at weekends doubles as my football team bus. Cruise control gets a work out whatever the speed limit I like SUV's, I like my Q7 it's genuinely a pleasant place to be. I'll buy a DBX as long as it does the lazy stuff well and the good stuff great, which by all accounts it seems to. But like I say, I like SUV's.

You'll be lucky to find much of a deal these days. The reason there were such cracking deals about was mainly due to a stockpile of cars that weren't shifting (for whatever reason).

I was talking to the guys at Works a couple of weeks ago just in general, and they were saying that there's very little factory support now if any on the Vantage as they move towards customer order only. Of course there are always deals out there of some sort, but don't expect to get the £1k down £1k a month offer again. That was a very unique offer to shift existing stock.

The good news for existing owners though is that this should start to shore up and improve residuals. We've all commented on crazy discounts especially on the old Vantage, and it's something that most of us said needed to stop and it looks like that 's starting to happen.

Ultimately though they need to build and sell cars, so if that pipeline starts to wear thin then who knows.

No nothing to do with Alphera, that is your responsibility.
