That's interesting Bins. Seen this happening before with the old Wedge Lagondas (and also rumoured to have taken place with the DB5 too). I wonder if he's buying them purely for investment purposes? Or whether he just likes the car and intends to drive them all (a bit like saying I like a particular Lewin's shirt and placing an order for half a dozen)?
Certainly an intriguing trend Rob. Interesting that the McGurk car has sold too Nick, as that was on the slightly higher mileage side. IMO, it's probably just a bit of a fad and I can't see it being sustainable, but I fly for a living and don't sell cars, so I'll be happy if I'm completely mistaken.

Adam, I spoke to a chap at the weekend who has sold 3 manual DBS over the last few months........all to the same buyer, who appears to be collecting them. If he likes the sound of them, he transfers the cash without viewing. They may all be going the same way! Currently 2 on the market, McGurks and Supercarshowroom.
With central banks around the world effectively reducing the value of hard currency, limited real assets such as gold, property and now rare cars (even semi rare cars like these) are becoming a genuine store of wealth. Understandable to an extent, but I can't help feel saddened that the very things we feel so passionate about have become little more than another asset in the portfolios of the very wealthy...how very dull. No one will complain if they never see a bond or a bullion bar in the flesh, but it's a shame that cars are now not being used as they should because adding mileage and exposing them will be detrimental to their value. Porshce GT3s have to be the best example of this (I'm making an exception for the real high end classics) in recent times. I think the last time I saw a GT3 RS was the drive to Le Mans in 2012. I feel somewhat hypocritical though in my views since rather than owning a depreciating asset I now have the pleasure of enjoying something that's actually going up. It won't stop me driving it though. Edited by Bincenzo on Tuesday 20th September 08:30

How come there's so few manuals for sale? I looked not long ago when thinking of swapping to a V12V and there were roughly the same number of each. Now there's currently 1 DBS and 22 V12V. Might be time for a switcheroo. Anyone know how many B+O manuals were produced?
I guess it is since the chancellor allowed people to get at their pension pots that there is an influx of DBS sales. V12V drivers on the other hand are too busy bemoaning BrexitEdited by CockAroach on Monday 19th September 16:05

Great post, and echoes my sentiments entirely. I shall enjoy what I have, I bought it to drive, not to sit in garage.Edited by CockAroach on Tuesday 20th September 11:45

Just found the advert on AT. One of 20 special edition commisioned by AM to celebrate 10 years in charge for Ulrich Bez. I didn't even know they existed, lovely looking car but not convinced about the interior, or his signature splattered all over the place.
That was always my thought too. First I don't like the arrogance of the guy; to have your company build a special edition named after yourself (while in charge)? Really? Fine if you set the company up, but he didn't.
Second, even putting aside the eponymous special (and the Cygnet), I'm not a big fan of Bez. There just wasn't the engagement between him and the buyers/owners of the cars that there seems to be with Andy Palmer. Mixing with the customers, heaven forbid!
Well he modernised Aston Martin and gave us some great cars under his leadership, he gave us the Vantage because he wanted a car to compete with the 911 (remember Dr Bez came from Porsche) and he was the one who pushed to fit the V12 into the Vantage.
He is a true petrol head and was driving Astons in quite a few races.
Yes he is German and can appear arrogant but wether you like the guy or not, fact is Aston Martin wouldn't be what it is now without him.

Agreed Rob, there has been a monumental change at AM since Andy Palmer joined, which is manifesting itself in several ways. Inventive new model design and a more customer focused management team in my mind gives AM a very bright future. Could you imagine UB at Burghley? No, me neither.
Fair enough. No harm in using their advertising budget to promote themselves. Don't get these special edition Astons with cosmetic upgrades only...nice, but are they really worth the premium? Looks to me like you're paying 20% more to have his squiggle on your seats. Am I wrong?

Actually there were 20 coupes and 20 Volantes; all TT with the exception of a single manual. This chart is useful for those interested in the DBS...
