Interesting that they are allegedly driving an unregistered car on the public roads and then making a video of it. Video and car is quite nice though.

Information provided on the DVLA website, does make it clear that 'road tax' is only required when a vehicle is kept or used, on a road that is maintained at public expense.

Insurance requirements on private / unadopted roads are a different matter. I don't know the answer to that.
No issue with running an untaxed/unregistered vehicle on a public road so long as trade plates are displayed.

Their motor trade insurance will provide full cover.

That depends on purpose doesn't it ? Trade plates can only be used for transport for purposes of sale, short test drive, testing repairs, etc IIRC

As it happens, the trade plates (if it's carrying them) aren't visible so irrelevant but if they were, I just meant I presumably their allowable usage doesn't extend to shooting promotional videos ? Or perhaps it does - I know the rules are quite tight on what qualifies as 'trade usage', although I don't know how that translates into real world usage

First you need to be caught or grassed up. I guess in this scenario they would just say they were on road test.

What is frowned upon are the garage owners running around using them on their DD. In this day and age you would be an idiot to do so with the number of cameras about.

I find its soooooo much easier to just own them, tax them and not be limited to the confines of an industrial estate! wink

Excuse the gratuitous plug (and amateur filming)! https://youtu.be/tGNYUVvZ7Bo

I think Fil was talking to AML about doing something for all the GT8s - but he's on holiday now. So I guess let's see where we are in September.

Separately I was going to try to make the AMOC racing day at Silverstone (30th September). Includes an Aston Martin track parade - might do most of that in 1st gear evil

Have all GT8's been delivered now? 71 registered in the UK so far. It looks like dealers were bullscensoreding when they were saying only 50 or so UK cars.

Only 10 auto though.

I think they're all delivered, not aware of anyone waiting for one (the primary hold up in deliveries was created by the wheel supplier failing to meet demand)

71 feels right ballpark given the number up for sale/number we're aware of in private hands

AML clearly had some cancelled orders/other- so Andy Palmer has a GT8 now as does Darren Turner (a lovely silver one). Former wasn't planned, not sure about the latter

It's by far the best Aston Martin I've had, the combination of light weight, wider stance and the low polar moment is sublime.

Hoping the V12 manual Roadster comes close albeit I accept the extra weight of the nose/Roadster offset by greater power combo is going to make it a somewhat different way of cracking the nut!

I enjoyed that, the filming was better than most and there was more of a story than the Amari video.

Also are those carbon fibre door handles I see? I'm not sure I've seen those on another GT8, in your colour scheme they work rather well.

Harwoods Chichester have got a Stirling Green/Lime Green Halo GT8 in stock. Number 18, apparently.

They've knocked the price right down on it too (£199k) but it's a SSIII and looks relatively low spec.

Indeed dare I say it - it looks like a car specced to be flipped. Is it the same car that was previously stuck at Redline?

Hi all,

Well spotted - and interesting. i'm sure it's not escaped your attention that other dealers have also reduced asking prices to something more, can I say, amenable to those of us who struggle with the concept of "premiums over". I missed out (well turned down actually) on new last year and have been regretting that ever since I saw and hear the real thing at last year's FoS.

Some reductions argentiere large enough (£45k+) that, after much deliberation, I could resist no longer and have just completed the deal on the HR Owen manual one in black biggrin. Car is no. 66 and FWIW after a deal of negotiating was secured for about original list, give or take, Am happy with that and, more importantly, VERY excited as you can imagine bounce Just got to get the less-than-perfect drive at home sorted out so I can actually get the car back home without damaging some expensive carbon fibre. Oh..and the car WILL be driven!

Best to all you lucky GT8 owners..

Andy

Congrats Andy, that car has a great spec (centrelocks cool)!

Most of us have ended up leaving off the very lower cf front splitters for convenience (quick job to put on/take off if needed).

Hopefully Fil will ping you a PM about the GT8 Whatsapp group if you would be interested in joining?
