You do seem awfully determined to give air to any negative press and/or reasons not to buy the New Vantage. For what reason I do not know? If you don't like it or it's not for you, please leave it ...
I hope not Frankie.
I have purposely tried to stay impartial on this, and I don't think I have even stated, whether I actually like the new car, or not.
You might have noticed previously, when a 'Ken Figenus' post resulted in an incorrect quotation inferring my criticism, I immediately requested a correction.
My last post simply joined together the views express by others on here, of two different aspects.
However, I respect your view, so won't make any more comments on this topic.

For 99% on here they will get us from A to B on UK roads in pretty much identical times.
All you need to do is pick the one you fancy and plenty will pick the new tech.

Just caught sight of the latest autocar with their best drivers car of the year
DB11 V8 came third behind Mclaren 720S and Porsche 911 GT3
Amazingly, considering it's Aston's GT, it did better than the AMG GT R and the M4 CS
On the face of it, this bodes incredibly well for new Vantage

And don’t forget, the negative are a minority, it has been incredibly well received in the general media and public. Those in here may seem vocal, but it’s a small voice in a very large room.
It's in the media's best interest to give a positive spin to any review they do of a car, lest they be denied access by the manufacturer when the time comes to cover the next car.I think reception for the car is entirely split. While the negative are more vocal (which is very often the case on the internet), reception in general isn't nearly as positive as it should have been.
Then again, I don't speak Chinese. Maybe that market is eating them up.

I'd think Aston would want to hear the good and the bad, certainly from current owners who are clearly a significant source of potential trade-ins. The notion that the positive response in the press means conclusively that the car has been well-received -- and that the complainers here are wrong, or in a small minority -- is, honestly, ridiculous. The opinion here are genuine, and expressed by owners and enthusiasts who don't have to appease the company or sell magazines/videos/etc.
Of course the opinions in here are genuine. You’re just a tiny, minuscule number of people in the world stage though. I’m not belittling you with that statement, but it’s a fact, PH Aston owners and fans are die hard enthusiasts and the Aston scene is all the better for you all as the passion you bring keeps the old values of the brand alive.
But the new Vantage is a new dawn and Aston simply aren’t pandering to your values now as they have in the past. They’re after a new market and are looking at conquest sales with this new car. Sure trade ins are good, but the number of old owners who are going to potentially trade up to a far more expensive car is a mere drop in the ocean compared to Chinese, Russian and other sales that are taking numbers away from Porsche, Merc and Bentley.

However when the same old negative stuff just keeps gets regurgitated, without adding anything new, and by largely the same people it does get somewhat monotonous. For example; your continued comments regarding the engine, well just got irritating if I'm honest. I fully respect your passion but it was like picking up the same newspaper every morning and reading the same headline. I note others thought that too and you have ceased banging that same old drum; so thank you. We are all very clear what your thoughts are on that particular component.
Jon's suggestion that we might be quite mad to consider buying the new Vantage, and why don't you buy a two year old Vanquish instead with a link to another thread on the Vanquish triggered me to comment. Of course, it may well be an option for some. The Vanquish is a very good looking and very capable GT car.
I fully respect the genuine opinions and the intense passion folks here have for the brand, it is fully understood. I read your passionate post that you believe "what makes an Aston and Aston" has been lost in the new Vantage...I totally, totally disagree wholeheartedly with your view, but that's fine we are all entitled to our own opinion.
I am certainly not blinkered to think just because a few free lunch journalists have praised the car that makes it all positive. Also on the other side of the coin I'm not swayed by the complainers on here either. I have decided to make my own mind up after seeing the car. Admittedly I haven't driven the car (nor as anyone else except for a privileged few Max, Daniel & Martin) so there is still a (small) possibility that you are completely correct about the engine losing its NA virtues and has therefore spoiled the car. I will defer judgment on that until I have driven one.
I'm also convinced that however much folks complain here, Aston will not be changing their direction of travel. Enjoy your beautiful NA Vantage in good health, keep the passion burning for the old Vantage, she deserves every ounce and keep it forever.
My wife loved her BMW Z3, when BMW brought out the dramatically different Z4, she initially hated it, but it grew on her and she eventually bought one and loved it. I personally like the new Vantage, but also suspect it will be a grower and will look better in the flesh.
I wasn't too keen on the DB11 compared to the DB9, but in the flesh they have real presence and are still a very attractive car, just not as gorgeous as the DB9!

LOL Adam - funny how he never mentioned a GT Aston 3d against the unattainable holy grail when posting that on FB!What a stunning result for a car playing one category up - politics for Merc too in trouncing them with their own engine! Sounds like my next car when the kids head towards Uni!
Thanks for the full scan and post too Matt

The good thing about the DB11 is that you don't look like someone who should be wearing a cap backwards whilst driving it. The problem with the GT3 mighty as it is you look like a moron driving one anywhere other than on a track particularly if you are over 40. Pull up in a GT3 to take a classy lady out for the evening what kind of reaction do you think you would get. What a stunning result for a car playing one category up - politics for Merc too in trouncing them with their own engine! I’m studiously avoiding posting in this thread until I’ve seen the new car in the flesh. But I will say two things:
1. I’m told by someone that has driven the prototype extensively that the car is amazing behind the wheel
2. In design, I suspect many of us are old enough to remember when the curvy Ford Sierra came out (the jelly mould shape). Everyone hated it (including me as a child); where were the straight lines? It was so ugly compared with the cortina and Granada. But then of course within a couple of years that was the norm and it was the boxy 70/early 80s shapes that looked ugly. Sweeping curves were in!
Then a few years back I saw a Gallado for the first time- yuck! all straight lines and angles, no curves. But you know what? now I love it (and the subsequent Huracans and Aventadors). Angular is in for supercars, sweeping curves are out!
It’s a very long winded way of saying that tastes change over time (the same is true with music and literature and pretty much everything). What jars with us today- because it’s different - becomes beautiful as it becomes more familiar; there isn’t the same sense of discordance.
The new Vantage isn’t the old Vantage. And that naturally looks wrong to those of us who are so used to seeing the old shape. Indeed i suspect anything that wasn’t the old Vantage would have attracted criticism. Those on here who say “oh they should have used the DB10 design” have quickly forgotten the criticism that came In for on this forum when it was revealed.
So I hope (for AML and for us) that in 6-12 months when we’ve got more familiar with the new shape that we’ll similalry learn to love it
Now if I could just get Getoff to like my GT8.....
