Aston Martin - Welsh Weekender -27th/28th June
Discussion
Lots of colours...
Btw, when we stopped I was slightly shocked to be told that we passed soldiers, guns and everything, as well as sheep and horses. This countryside thingy takes a bit of getting used to!
To answer your question Molly: yes, give up whatever it is you do today and organise more of these events - you clearly have a talent for it!!! Nothing could have been better about the weekend. Even the hailstones were well timed and provided even more entertainment!

Wait, what? I would love to have made some DB9 owner jokes but Jockman doesn't have one anymore and the only one that was with us this weekend is a BR special ('Project Mathis') and up to full DBS spec so no taking the p*ss allowed there!
The Welsh Weekender has developed somewhat from the simple drive-out that you recall

even Rob was only borderline offensive..
You should have been on Rob's table Saturday night there was no borderline Rob could be thrown out of a brothel for being too filthy .

Having trouble coming back down to earth today, particularly after being lead driver yesterday of the Sunday Six Mini Tour.
I know how you feel Molly, I'm the same, always the way after being away on the hoons, soooo much fun whether here or abroad, a day or several, happy days .You know how to make it stop though don't you...? there is always the next one..
Thanks to Rob, Molly and the rest of you for making it such a great weekend, all been said by now, sorry it's a little belated, had a fence to paint when I got home . Got some great Gopro footage - makes me feel car sick looking at it . Not sure how to share it and weather it sould be private- I should point out no sheep were killed in the making of it and no speed limits exceeded, though some noise restrictions may have been breached by Pearl - any suggestions? will need to be simple though!
What an absolutely fantastic weekend... big thanks to Molly who did a stellar job organising this trip, absolutely awesome
Really chuffed I could come along and join in the fun... so many highlights and absolutely no lowlights... I even came away with a prize, even if it was named the tosser award
Really great to meet so many folks on here in person, although I expect meeting W1111AM and seeing his P&J in the flesh has put me in danger of spending significant amounts of £££ upgrading bits on my car - love what you've done with the car mate, that zagato interior...
Oh and Robgt, I'll never forget our surprise encounter in the bushes... regrettably

It's a great journey personalising a new generation AM, they are crying out for it! I am half expecting to hear you have succumbed to a cheeky V12V though - I saw your eyes light up sitting in Getoff's - he couldn't get you out
Thank you to everyone that joined us on what turned out to be a great weekend. It was really nice to see and meet so many new faces. Molly goes to great lengths to make sure everything is just right. I do as I'm told which is probably quite apparent. Every year that we do this we both learn a little bit more ready for the next year. We both agree that The Metropole is without doubt our preferred start and finish point so we will be returning to do it again!
I just want to say some THANK YOU's as some of them are to people who weren't even there this weekend ...
To 'mikey k' for supplying the inspiration. We first went on a group drive-out over 3 years ago, in North Wales, and it was organised by Mike. Initially it didn't involve accommodation but we pieced that together as we went along & we met some great people and had a great laugh. That's how it started.
We took the idea and developed it because we were also inspired by Petrolhead Nirvana http://www.petrolheadnirvana.com/# who do this stuff on a commercial basis and many of you will have heard us mention them and our Alpine adventures with them. On our 3rd attempt at running a Welsh Weekender it finally clicked ...why don't we use the same hotel that Petrolhead Nirvana run their Welsh Weekenders from? So the 2nd Thank You is to them - cheers Pete & Bachi (hope the snow in the Alps isn't hindering you too much this week!).
That brings us to the hotel. Thank You Justin, Greg and the rest of the team at The Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells http://www.metropole.co.uk/. You did a great job and we whole-heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to tour in Wales. We can't fault it. Great location, rooms, food, staff, car parking, atmosphere etc. etc. What more can a petrolhead or pistonhead ask of a hotel than that the boss is on your wavelength and opts to come out to play too!
We must also mention in despatches Jon at The Bell http://www.thebellcountrypub.co.uk/ - I thought lunch went pretty well! .. and for dinosaurs and coffee - James at http://www.showcaves.co.uk/
Thank You to everyone who came and joined in this weekend and for being a thoughtful bunch and getting us our own customised Rob, Molly & Pearl sill plaques! Lots of the old school bunch who have done this before couldn't make it which left room for new people to come and find out what its all about - and that turned out to be a good thing ... I wonder who will turn up next year
