Johnny's new heart is ready for going in!

Bamford Rose are going to run it up with the "stock" intake and exhaust so we know what the 5.0 GT4 engine on it's own will put out
Then comes the twin throttle intake, ceramic coated headers and 200 cell cats

Bamford Rose fired up the 5.0 GT4 engine in Johnny 550 and started the durability testing
It is currently set up with the standard clutch and exhaust so they can get a direct comparison to the 4.7 GT4 package.
Once it passes durability testing on with the ceramic headers, cats and twin throttle intake!

they tell me cos they can't for the life of them forget the sign off processes they had to pass when developing factory engines into production, its a cut down version of the same Ford High Speed Test (HST) cycle around Millbrook. They did the same for Jessica. Because Johnny has BR proto parts they are instrumented on the engine with temperature and pressure sensors to better know how the package behaves rather than it just passing the test. They have to get this right because there are some race cars looking to take the 5L engine too
Mikes done over 100 miles in it averaging 30.2 mpg
Apparently pulls like a train to the redline and still wants to go on, so it looks like the redline is going up
Compression test and borescope now, then a bit more running in followed by a dyno to benchmark the 4.7 to 5.0 GT4 difference.
Then ALL the other goodies go on!
And unsurprisingly RobGT has already heard it and is getting excited

Had a good chat with Mike this morning.
Johnny passed the compression test and borescope no problems, he's sounding pretty loud even with the standard exhaust.
Mikes "butt" dyno and air flow measurements are ahead of expectations so the dyno to compare 4.7 to 5.0 GT4 engine with standard breathing (intake & exhaust) and stock clutch will be interesting. That should be done next week.
Then its time to put on the twin throttle intake, ceramic coated pinnacle exhaust system, lightened clutch package, reinstate the gearbox oil cooler and the uprated drive shafts.
So early in the new year it will be time for me to drive it for the first time!
Mike suspects Johnny will take the lap record for BR cars round the Gaydon Loop!
I understand Woolders has already experienced the passenger seat without realising what he was in

just got a text from Mike
"Johnny is off to the dyno. I have removed the front bricks for dyno cos this exhaust spec replicates 4.7L GT4. A quick test drive and all I can say is... HOLY st! And I thought Rosie was a video game. Answer to the definitive V12 Vs V8 thread = Johnny 550 without any doubt!!
I'd say already he's as fast as a std v12v in this latest small step yet still a halfway house step. A scientific test in 4th gear still wants to spin the wheels all the way to 7600 rpm (cold and damp) yet you are still pushed back into the seat all the way up to the limiter @7600 and the motor now surges with anger to the redline - scary what he will do with the full kit!"
Not too bothered about this set of dyno numbers as a lot of the "breathing" mods aren't on.
I'm going to go and have a drive of him in his current state on Monday!

It's going to be a monster......
Mikey.... Itook the Griff out yesterday and can confirm that in slightly damp conditions in 4th gear it'll light the tyres up from about 60 mph..... It's gonna take some getting used to that's for sure...:

I think in those conditions the DSC will be on and the Sport button Off! (mental note to stock up on rear brake pads )
