Ha yes John Grange at Brentwood. They said each dealer had a Mako car all had LW seats.
I am not sure that statement is true. I spent a long time looking for a Mako V12 and I just don't think that every dealer had one...

either way you want lightweight seats

unless you are too wide to fit in them

which is the perfect excuse for knocking back on the hobnobs.

What a great position to find yourself in. DBS or V12V...hmmmm.

While I prefer the V8V to the DB9, I'm a big fan of the looks of the DBS (probably the best proportioned of the current range) so I'd take that over the V12V given the choice.

Cayman-B - the first Mako V12V I saw for sale was in Spring 2010 and it had blue leather non-light weight seats. The blue exterior and interior just didn't do it for me.
In June 2010, Simon at Gaydon who was giving us a tour confirmed that at that time there were only 4 UK Makos so doubt very much every dealer had one!
When I purchased mine in Aug 2010 I had it confirmed there were then 6 UK Makos.
If I was to choose another colour now, it would have to be Magma Red cool

Thanks Mako. Probably just dealer talk. Magma red, nice but not for me.

I'd rather have the heated seats and keep on eating the hobnobs smile

I'm fortunate enough to have owned both - had a DBS as a daily drive for a year, then a V12V as a daily for 6 months. I'm back in a DBS coupe 2+0 manual. It is not quite as sharp as the V12V but has a little bit more breadth. Also, I think it looks much better, just elegant (maybe a bit ott, but just a nicer shape).

Like most have said - theres very little in it - both are fantastic machines

I haven't driven one but I believe those who say the V12 Vantage with its manual gearbox and more compact dimensions is a better car to hustle down twisties.

However I've always had cabrios since I could afford them, had a TT, Boxster S, Carrera 4S and V8V roadster. I loved V8 but the Sportshift was rubbish in town and in the end it got too much. Get the manual.

As they don't do V12 Vantage Roadsters there was only really one place to go for me.

As lovely as Vantages are (and they are) when I put my "old" V8 Roadster next to the pictured car I felt the same as when I put my old Carrera Cabrio next to a Vantage Roadster....

Like I wanted to be unfaithful.

Now I'll never stray again :-)

just gone through the same exercise myself .Having come out of a 997 gt3 I thought the V12V would be the car ... drove both ... and decided that the car was for driving pleasure not roughing around the track [ have a lotus for that ]so either car would do a great job in that role .... so the DBS won on looks for me . the shape and detailing on the car looks beautiful from every angle . also found one with rear seats which is a added bonus !

Looks like Gulf's Duck Egg Blue! I know what my Le Mans stickering scheme would be, some orange striping would be going on!

Maybe Celeste blue?

I have a DBS Coupe. I drove both before deciding. The V12V is a better 10/10ths car, the DBS a better GT.

The reality is that I rarely drive 10/10ths or even 9/10ths as it is not safe or even close to being legal to do so on our roads.

The DBS offered a nicer looking car (imho) with two extra seats (for my smallest child), two suspension settings, two throttle maps and (in TT2 form) two gearbox modes. It goes from being an elegant and relaxed tourer to being a track-day monster. The V12V will beat it round a track but that's not where I spend my time.

agree that is a lovely colour almost Mako? As to looks i feel the Vantage looks fresher and a more sporty car. Plus i would never buy a cabrio.

unless the V12V is considerably down on power relative to a DBS those number just don't add up.

The Vantage's sticky tyres are worth heaps of time over a lap on their own.

I could concievably believe that the DBS has an aerodynamic advantage at high speed but it still wouldn't account for the difference in those numbers. No way on earth that from my experience of the DBS, V12Vantage and the track at Anglesey that the DBS is going to be quicker round there.

Large pinch of salt required methinks.

Two throttle maps? Where is the button for that? Is it just on the TT2 car? I have a manual and would love a slightly sharper throttle....

Far too many pro DBS posts going on here.

Time to make the choice a bit harder again...
