Vantage "impossible" to reverse on full lock....????
Discussion
63mph in reverse is clearly just one of those James Bond features
I've had to change round so that I reverse down the slope into my garage, and can do it in neutral or reverse with clutch depressed if I need the reversing lights on. Driving up the slope is now done in 1st, so the clutch should last much longer
It is definitely the most irritating thing about the car

im going for the record for known clutch longetivity (famous last words perhaps!) and over 60K miles
...including lots of reversing up steep inclines and every time it comes out of the garage ( I live on a hill )
..clutch control is what you need, no need to touch the throttle really at all, 8mph is plenty fast enough

weird...mine seems to have some kind of anti stall/creep kind of thing going on ....wonder if the mapping changed over the years
what year is yours? mines a Jan06 car, built in December 05
or maybe its when its on its high-tickover cycle from cold ...thinking about it 99% of the reversing I do, is from a cold start, rather than when its been on a run
mmm...will have to experiment next time im out in it....

My MY07 has this too. But 8mph up a tight reverse might be too quick?I have to gradually release the clutch for my anti-stall to work which might not be viable in the circumstance the OP has?

The circumstances where I'm struggling are where I need to balance the clutch on the biting point to reverse slowly, I.e. less than the 8mph if I were to fully engage the clutch. I'll do a little more experimenting to see if the.anti stall can be persuaded to step in.
Thanks for the discussion so far,
Phil.

I call shenanigans.
Me too I can't recall where I heard this, but I'm sure it wasn't intentionally this way, but there was some mix up with gearbox ratios and final drives that needed amending very late in the development cycle, and the "fix" meant things were OK in fwd gears but reverse was compromised.
That could also be blox though

Get the model with the 4 extra cycliners. The problem dissapears completely
No it does not - exactly the same stalling problem on full lock with my DB9 .Might be the engine is often cold but more likely the power steering is on full and causes the problem ? Same high gearing in reverse as well - better to avoid the right peddle when reversing .Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
