The hole that is circled is the drain (I'm pretty sure) and the grill below it is the air intake to the heater blower. If anything caused the water to overflow that little lip into the grill then perhaps that would cause problems.
The drain hole does look a bit bunged up so perhaps water is finding another route via the inside of the car! I will try cleaning out the drain hole tomorrow and pour some water down the windscreen to see if it exits safely or not.

Car went back to Grange this morning now that I know where the water is coming into the footwell. I'm sure they will suss it out for me. Feels like I share the car with them at the moment.

Got a lift back to the station being driven in my car by one of the Grange engineers. Seems a lot faster when you are a passenger smile

Latest update. Grange removed the front wing and found that with the front of the car inclined (as it is on my drive which is on a slight slope) some water was going into a box section and coming out into the footwell. They have used that red gluey stuff that is used to glue the car together to close the gap and left it overnight to cure. Hopefully when they test with water today it should be all fine.

Huh! If you can get a photo of the repair that would be most useful for anyone trying to track down a similar leak.

I will ask. They are water testing in a few minutes. Apparently when the car was inclined water was spilling over into the front wing box section and then finding a route out into the footwell. It only happened when the car was higher at the font and when a LOT of water was poured onto it (like our recent heavy and consistent rain.).

I will get a full update and pass it on here for information.
