Mine were done in 2009. They should last a few years yet.

I think AM sourced a better part so the new coil packs should last a bit longer than the first ones.

Congrats!

Do you know if the ignition coils have been replaced in its lifetime? If they haven't been done yet they'll probably fail at some point in the near future and the bill won't be pretty. The only other thing I'd be careful of is that the fuel pumps are cooled by the contents of the tank, so its not recommended to let the fuel level go much below a quarter, particularly in warm weather.
I've just had all my coils (and plugs) done yikes Still, shouldn't need doing again for a long time now.

If you need to replace the fuel pumps they are the same part as fitted to Mondeos, a fraction of the AM price at http://www.auto-sensors.co.uk/ford-mondeo--petrol-...

Excellent info on the fuel pumps. I'm saving that for when I inevitably need them!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I take it if you've just had the ignition coils replaced for the second time in the car's life? How many years/miles did you get out of this set?

I have another question, sorry if it's something simple I should know. On the sill on both sides of the car there is a plaque with Aston Martin on, there is also a guy's name and wondered if this is something the last owner has added or if all cars have this?

You can customise your sill plaque with your own name - PM Tony Hall and see if he can do one for a DB7.

Mind you the prices he charges these days, you might be better changing your name to whoever is on the current plaque biggrin

I'm no expert....perhaps the DB7 plaques contain the name of the chap who did the Final Inspection confused

I'm just trying to think as to why the previous owner did not swap back to the originals and keep those as a momento of a wonderful car smile

First replacement set after 11 years and 34,000 miles (waits to be flamed for not putting enough miles on car hehe)

AM dealer wanted to replace them 5 years ago but the car was running as sweet as a nut so I didn't bother, had a reminder every year they needed doing but kept going until a recent small misfire . I'm a great believer of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
