If you go along to this Jag event, remember to wear your double breasted blazer with gold buttons and deliberately forget your wallet
Don't forget your Aston Martin jacket, and AM lapel badge for the double breasted blazer. smile

I'm sorry, the Jag just cannot be compared to an Aston, especially the F Type. It looks too small, has far too much plastic parts and has little road presences. Compare it to a Boxster or a 370Z Roadster or a Z4, but not an Aston. And what is it with the weird grab handle by the gear selector?

I don't want to have a downer on a "British" brand, I hope it does well but as I've said before, wind forward to the day that you drive your Aston Martin for the last time to the Jaguar dealer to pick up your new F Type. You park up, lock it for the last time and give it one last glance over your shoulder. And that's before you even get it home and have to explain your backward step to the neighbours. I know what mine would say....." I see you've bought the missus a new car....where's the Aston?"

And then you have to explain that it was just as much money...........Really???

I hope everyone here does go along to make the numbers up, I'm sure Jaguar would be thrilled to have twenty Astons of various types turn up to the launch of a new car.
Mmm.

It'll be interesting to read the inevitable back-to-back reviews.

Wouldn't mind betting its not compared with an Aston. More likely to be Z4, SLK AMG or Boxster I would have thought.

I think it will be.

For example, it's already been compared to a 911.

I have just swapped my slippers for a pair of blue suede driving shoes - can I come too?

PS. I have owned four Jaags in the past and always carry my wallet hehe

Yes, and the 911 murdered it on a track. No doubt R models will be along at some point but in the meantime, it's Z4 territory.

Please, come and give one a go. It is certainly not "going down" from say a 4.3 V8 Vantage.
Well, owning a 4.3 Vantage and having had the pleasure of driving an F it certainly is "going down". Absolutely no way does the F Type give one the same feeling as driving the Vantage.

Good luck getting people out of their Astons smile

Well, a 911 "murders" Vantage on track but that doesn't mean that there will not be comparison tests (just as they were with 911 Vs Vantage).

It will be interesting to see the outcome.

Oh, ehhh.....unfortunately I've woken up to find that my eyes fell out in my sleep and I've just heard that my local news agent had a small fire last night. It was contained to the magazine area but unfortunately they did lose every copy of this months Evo. I promoise to buy a copy of next months if that helps at all. smile

For me, there's too little info out there to get an informed opinion. That's why I went down to see one.
Does it even have a dry-sump etc?
It's not even a weekend toy, did anyone look in the boot? Lot of money for something you can't get an overnight bag in.

How terribly crass.

Where do you live exactly? Sounds terrible.

Jaguar strongly deny it is aimed at the 911

I think you know the point I'm trying to make, albeit light hearted. Think similar logic to the Top Gear Cool Wall and you'll get it smile

When you were little what did you aspire to owning one day: a Jag or an Aston?

I think the F Type is a good looking car - not as well resolved as the Vantage IMHO - but then I would say that! EVO tend to be pretty sensible and they seemed to like it.

Having some diversity in the space can only be a good thing - again IMHO smile

Barbie or Cindy was the only choice for me.

Ken just looked WAY too gay smile
