Not tried the standard seats on a long run only a test drive. Found them a bit more harder on my back.

Now done 11k miles in the light weight (or MTFU edition ) seats including a 4.8k miles 18 day euro tour much more support we both prefer them to the sports (just need to sort the heaters out )

Because as many people have said they are more supportive (but less adjustable) and suit the sportscar feel of the V12V and V8S variants. You may consider it a GT car, I do not agree, but that is the beauty of opinion . I have had both seats (as has Mikey) and I know which I prefer. It helps that it saves 17Kg also as I can eat more cake a v12v is a 'singular' choice of car. As such the lightweight seats do make sense.
It is not a GT perse. A good mix of GT and sportscar.
Lightweight make sense in this car if you are of lighter build I guess.

Having test driven one last week I can tell you its very different to a F430. Not as fast, light or agile IMHO but it looks gorgeous and ouzes class. It feels heavy and more GT and less sport car so it depends on what you want.
Biggest issue for me personally was the seating position in relation to the gear stick. I'm only 5'9" with 30" legs and like to sit quite far forward. This made 2,4 and 6th gear changes awkward with the gearlever almost in line with your body and arm at 90 degrees. I'm sure I would get use to it over time or adapt but it rather spoilt the whole driving experience for me
I also thought owning the last V12 manual was going to be ideal but TBH I think the car will be better suited with the new gearbox in the coming S ( maybe this istainted by my driving position with the manual but it did seem heavy slow and antiquated )
Horses for courses but to me its a classy fast GT cruiser not a true drivers sports car that you are dying to take out early on a sunday am for a hoon on A and B roads

I drive a GT3 RS 4.0 and a V12V and yes these two cars are chalk and cheese but to characterise the V12V as a GT car is nowhere near the truth. Try a day at SPA and you will find out that this car is so wonderfully balanced and when driven fluidly it is a tremendous car on (and off) the track. There is much more in it that meets the eye and over 3.5 years of ownership I have difficulties letting go of this car. With the manual shift it is truly unique. The paddle shift in the S will definitely move it more towards a GT car which personally Im not too keen on.
PS: The carbon backed buckets are a must. Once your back gets used to them they are very comfortable.

Got to agree re chalk and cheese Chris, but for me the weight alone makes it a GT car for me,and not one I would want to track or thrash on a B road.PS: The carbon backed buckets are a must. Once your back gets used to them they are very comfortable.
I prefer light and small, but that's just me.
Conversely, i have had several outstanding offers from Dealers for my car recently.....and am keeping it. It oozes class, and is wonderful to drive as you say. Love the manual too, would never consider a paddle version.

Really Robbo as there are a couple of private adds at very reasonable prices. Makes me think the dealer bids would be very bad.cayman-black said:

Yup, mentioned that one in another thread. 2011 carbon black at £80k with lightweights... A week or two earlier I would have been straight over. Interesting having a 11k miler with lightweights at a main dealer for £75k too. Definitely seems prices are moving a bit at the moment. That's my consolation for not getting one anytime soon!! Where do we see the prices going with these ?
They look good value at the moment with cap trade dropping £13k in the last year and I wonder if they will steady out and bounce back or continue to drop like a stone ?
I know its only a benchmark but over the same 12 month period cap shows my F430 spider only dropping £2k and 458 dropping £30k
Not sure where my money is best placed at the moment but its certainly not in the conservatory the missus wants !
