A LOT of garages use the deposit ploy to lock you in to the car and reduce the haggle potential
I've done it a couple of times, traveled long distances to see the car and ended up getting the deposit back after a struggle.
If you like the car make a special effort to go and see it in the flesh before you put ANY sort of deposit on it!
They will take the deposit on a Credit Card, matey. Just get the credit card to get it back for you - companies hate that as it makes them look bad.I've done it a couple of times, traveled long distances to see the car and ended up getting the deposit back after a struggle.

Didn't Phil Cole move to Cardiff?
I have it writing from them they will refund deposit if I do not like or want the car.
Yes dealing with Chris little too, seems like a decent guy.
I have missed out a few times now on these cars so thought why not secure it before it goes. They've offered a resonable part exchange on mine. Although I was trying to sell it privately but am getting too many timewasters offering stupid money without sering it or asking things like is it economical on petrol.
Only issue with selling it privately is my private plate. Need to get that sorted, but thinking can't really bothered with it all just let dealer do it all after the amount of timewasters I have calling up.

He did when he was passed over for DP at Wilmslow when Guy left and went to Cardiff as DP while the Cardiff DP arrived at Wilmslow.Didn't Phil Cole move to Cardiff?
Phil is now back at Wilmslow as DP. Wheels within wheels......
And I thought the print trade was incestuous.

Just wondering if I did buy the car if they would be able to deliver to my local Stratstone dealer to pick up and Drop my part ex off there. Anyone done this before? Don't fancy another long drive to Cardiff again.

Have you asked if they will bring it down to your local dealer. That's what I did.

My DB9 was in the North East....they sent a low loader to collect it and bring it to Wilmslow for me to try....I bought it
It probably went faster on the low loader than I ever drove it
We have just had a very positive experience buying from Stratstones in Wilmslow. The price negotiations lasted for over 5 hours but at the end we were within £130.00 of where I wanted to be. Additionally, when they ran out of money offers, wheels and tyre insurances hit the table . I think there was a little bit of pain on both sides which, in my book, is a good deal

It's funny as I started well with wilmslow, then anomalies came out, wheels on the invoice I hadn't received (they probably tried to charge me for yours and invoiced me for the tracker subscription even though I'd paid it direct at their request in the showroom, paint treatment that left the car looking terrible. Most of it sorted out but took some pressure. Would I say it was positive? No, not really as at one point I would have merrily given them the keys back. Do I appreciate that in the end they tried to help put things right? yes. I'd be surprised if any dealer didn't have good and bad experiences, things get said that are heard differently (dealer told me the price was inclusive of everything then asked for another £210 tracker subscription while road tax was included in 'everything') and we can all end up in loggerheads over something that is relatively trivial. It's amazing how a couple of hundred quid can matter when spending 100k especially when it feels a breach of trust.
That all said, I'd use wilmslow again as they came through in the end. They might not want to deal with me however

Are HR Owen in Cheltenham or Grange in Exeter better options than Cardiff or is it worth going further afield for purchase / servicing?
Cheltenham. Superb. Bought my V12 from Leeds, who again, were great.
Cardiff pricing was buying awful, way over the top. Didn't ring back, no follow up after my enquiry. The manager there I believe, now has over to Wilmslow....should do better there...bet he's already sold out of al the white V12VS, red leather and black wheels for £15k above MV....
