106k miles DB9 how scared should I be?
Discussion
Aston hammer those V12s to ensure they reach at least 150k miles - or the design is rejected.. Really hammer them in a way no owner could or would.
I'd pay little attention to a dealer inspection (its all about shifting cars) and what they DONT check is far more important than what they do. They don't borescope or undo any cover or nut or bolt (to my knowledge) or give you any info on diagnostics (in my case) or attempt to decide if she uses any oil etc. What ISNT't on the tick box sheet scares me...was a bit shocked when I got mine (+ the errors and omissions and just the plain 'cant be arsed to check/measure properly bits...Gloucestershire...)
So if there is no little end noise it may be worth an independent expert inspection. I would however be looking at it being min £25k cheaper than a 50k miles car. Ohh and then there are transmissions, suspension joints, wheel bearings etc. You'll need to be handy with a spanner or clever with your sourcing - any mechanic can change a wheel bearing so no need to pay £200 an hour!
Would I??? Hmmm? And I once bought a bargain Beemer at 96k - ran it till 200k and lost just £7k on it; spent just £1k on it (sus joints and LP fuel pump) but saved more than twice that in servicing/fixing myself! One of my smartest moves ever for 5 years cheap but quality motoring.
I'd love you to try as I'm annoyed at this 'low mileage' silly thing that constrains all our enjoyment so much. So keep us posted :-) It would likely be all good.

I'd like to be optimistic, but my experience with asthma tells me this is a very very bad idea. I am sure you'll get a high mileage car with an not for little money, but had no idea how much it actually cost to keep a db9 in very good order. I purchase a MY2006 car at 38k miles 2 years ago. It looked inaccurate and drive nice enough in the very limited test drive. In the last 18 months I have had over £20k of receipted warranty claims on everything from lights, suspension, radiator, paint, doors, satnav, engine gaskets, windscreen. The manager of my local stratstone dealer says I'm their most precious customer and that I must have the most highly maintained db9 in the country, but I would not buy another Aston. I still can't bring myself to sell mine, but I don't think I could buy another

Car looked & drove great although mileage is even higher than originally thought at 118k & price is more than the guesses on here (£30k)
Car is getting full check over at Aston specialist & all being well It may be mine soon.
The service history is impeccable with car being serviced twice a year up to 2012 then annually from there on. All at Aston main dealer.
The condition of the car is fantastic far better than any I've seen below £40k
I intend keeping the car for a long time so residual values not too much of an issue although I've been guaranteed a buy back providing I keep in same condition.

More or less just waiting for result of check over.
Price includes a service & sorting any slight paint scuffs plus refurbing scuffed wheels.

I would much rather buy a one owner car which has been used regularly and maintained thoroughly, than a garage queen which has had a string of owners who've (allegedly) only done 1500 miles a year in it. Theres nothing fragile about a modern V12 Aston so as long as it checks out ok on inspection there should be nothing more to worry about than any other.
Nice looking car BTW.

Very nice car considering the mileage and those wheels are stunning. Much better than the originals in my opinion. I wouldn't overly worry about the mileage as long as it well checked and has been well maintained which it looks as though it has. I would rather have a higher mileage car which has done a lot of long journeys which this one probably has than a car that has done a quarter of that mileage which has been stuck in traffic jams around town for half it's life!

Most people would be very wary, but I admire your commitment. I'm hoping you will be completely vindicated and still happy with the car at 200,000 miles. I think everyone on here would feel very encouraged if the car turned out to be sweet as a nut and continued to be over many years, as it proves to owners we should not be precious about mileage. You should start a new thread for high mileage cars, would be most interesting Price includes a service & sorting any slight paint scuffs plus refurbing scuffed wheels.

Your car (it sounds as if it will soon be yours) looks great.
The colour is my favourite, and rare too. I had to wait a year to find a pre-owned in Grigio. On a cloudy day it is grey, but in sunshine becomes silver.
I must 'get out more'. 104,000 miles to catch you up.
Best of luck with it, and please keep the forum posted with your experiences.
